To use a Laptop as a tv screen with the Wii, if it is what exactly would i need. Im going of to uni and im not sure if where im staying has a tv, i doubt i'll be able to take my 40inch tv in my room with me (Coming up with a suitable reason why i need to take my Wii is hard enough).
Yes i can use Dolphin but sometimes i just want to use my Wii instead especially when there are other people with me.
Here, we have a device which converts TV signals into VGA signals. Google up for that...
to usb capture card should work
for you. the only you got to do is
find a suitable program that will let
you go fullscreen. (like a DVR software or wintv)
Are USB capture devices easy to find and will there be any lag issues, because i did notice that the first time i connected my Wii to a HDTV there was a bit of lag in Brawl but after messing around with the picture settings the lag disappeared. Also how much do they usually cost compared to me just buying a tv later on after i arrive.
composite usb capture usually 15 + dollars
search on google for easy cap capture device
that cheapest far as i know.

which work okish (for example mine is giving irritating random crashes on this pc but works fine downstairs...)
but that is your best guess

i use pinnacle studio 14
its the device/drivers as it happens in all programs using the easycap usb capture device

(could even be a irq conflict for all i know)
and thats not a card. cards often work fine; but also often have a delay of a few ms
but are more stable...
oh right i will use the right term now
its a usb capturing device
I wouldnt bother. I've tried it for a while and every USB capture device I've used has had too much lag to make anything playable except for music games, and even then only because of their lag calibration settings.
This was using it with Virtualdub, btw. The software that came with it was complete crap.
