Quote:The AF quality is supposed to be able to be disabled, and the shimmering isn't noticeable in a majority of titles. It's not even that big of a deal in benchmarks meant to test for it. 10.10e does give you more Catalyst AI control. It's the driver I'm running, and hopefully some of these options are standard in 11.1+.
No, its highly visible in any title which has fast moving ground.... and especially noticable in GTA4.... it practically makes samples beyond a certain point vanish D:

Vanishing, you say? Mm, sounds a bit similar to the problem I had with Sonic Adventure 2: Battle in the racing stages yesterday. I haven't noticed any oddities in GTA IV, but I'll keep an eye out. The only "disappearing" issue I had in GTA IV was some stuff just going gray, which was resolved with a RAM upgrade.
on the upside, the disappearing samples is much better on 6xxx cards than it is on 5xxx cards, but certain scenario's trigger it still according to some of the german sites. (nvidia changed the blog format and the links are hard to find now)

I see. If you do find some information on that, I would be interested. I like to know as much about products as possible. Both sides have their ups...and of course their downs.
By the way, one major point you may have forgotten is AMD's OpenCL/Stream support. Their drivers are absolutely terrible for this! I tried getting an OpenCL driver to go with the 10.10e display driver, but couldn't. I'd like to try out some of that OpenCL support in Dolphin, but that doesn't seem to be working out the greatest at the moment. I'll probably give a different OpenCL driver a whirl, but I haven't even been able to get one running, despite the installer saying otherwise, hehe.
isn't stream included with the 10.12 driver by default now?

Meh, it might be. 10.12 is junk, though, so I'm staying away from it. There are just too many problems with 10.12 that weren't issues in previous versions. 10.10e is currently what I believe to be the best driver, but the problem is that it doesn't seem to agree with standalone Stream drivers.
heh consider how many 10.12 releases they made.. its impossible to know which is good or not.
Hey guys, just an update,
So with the addition of 24gigs of ram, a slightly higher power supply (and now about a 200mhz increase to cpu, TWO radeon 6970s in crossfire, and the addition of the new 6800+ revs, my results are as such:
I can now play smash on dx9 with vsync, 16x Anti, 9x SSAA, Bi-Tri filtering, 1920x1080 and retain 60fps at all times (this goes for quite a few of my GC games from what i've tested). Also, Guitar Hero III which was something I couldn't quite make to 60, it would top at 55 before which as you know GHIII needs to be 100% at all times to really be playable.
Hyrule field in Twilight princess is constant 30, with 16x anti, and vsync, still can't run AA with it I should note. Oh and thats not 100% true about the fps, it dips to MAYBE about 28ish in the top area near the snowy mountains (prolly one of the biggest fps-hit areas) -- So to conclude I can actually play that game now and enjoy it the way it was meant to be!! (woot!)
With vsync, 16x anti, I can push ABOUT 50fps in the very first ship area of Mario Galaxy 1 (which lags more then 2), that 50fps quickly turns to 60 once I turn left, but stays a little longer if you head to the right, and if you zoom out to see the whole ship its about 30-40fps.
That's about it, and no dx11 does not result in better fps over dx9 with the lastest catalyst drivers it would seem... I have also noticed that if I fullscreen Megaman 9, it doesn't give me those huge flashy lines, but still looks interlaced during gameplay... (I hate changing the resultion to play that game)
Metroid prime still can't do vsync and AA well, if I cut out vsync most all of these results change to 100%, but I am a vsync fiend, I love that nice refresh look personally... CANT STAND CLIPPING.
--That's about it for the games I have.
So yeah, very happy with all this, Crysis runs for me at 100% EVERYTHING and solid fps. it looks like a wetdream.
