I have a 1201N netbook that has a Atom N330 cpu running at 1.8Ghz ( Dual Core) it has Nvidia ION for video.
I am wondering what the cpu and video are comparable. I think the N330 is faster than a pentium 4 but slower than a pentium M. I am not sure what video card the ION comparable to.
Just want to get a good idea so I know what I will be able to play on it.
I doubt it will run Dolphin at a decent speed but it might run a few PC games.
It won't run dolphin period, just making that clear.
Hard to compare it to a desktop processor. Pentium 4 will be faster in some cases and slower in others.
You might be able to play a game like portal on minimum settings.
sorry to say not even portal
but probably halo combat evolved
let explain what are netbooks
netbooks are small laptops with minimal performance
that only do basic things like hearing music, watching videos, surfing the web ,etc
not for gaming purpose. dolphin or anything that uses the most performance could probably
cause your netbook to overheat and even worse kill it

Somewhere between an 8500gt and an 8600gt. It's basically just an underclocked 9400gt.

For most newer applications that use multiple threads and sse like dolphin an n330 should be faster than a pentium 4 but slower than a pentium d. Only in very old poorly optimized applications will a pentium 4 beat it.

Unless you've got a huge dust buildup, no. It will run slow and both the cpu and gpu will be at full load but as long as it;s at stock settings a laptop or netbook should not overheat unless their is a problem with it, this is just common sense.

For modern games sure. But for older games it will do fine. Games from 2006 or earlier should run fine as long as it has an ion gpu.
Thank you NaturalViolence for your reply. You are always very informative with your answers. You helped me out a good deal.

Try youtube searches of that laptop. People love to post videos of games running on various netbook/laptops.
@Bart1975
Out of curiosity what is the screen resolution of your netbook? I'm guessing either 1024 x 600, 1280 x 800, or 1366 x 768. Depending on the resolution it might even be able to run modern games at moderate settings, people don't seem to realize that the ion gpu is almost as fast as the G77 that the ps3 uses.
Also if you can provide how much ram and what os it's using that would be helpful too.

3 gigs of ram, 1366 x 768, win7 x64, 64 Gig SSD.
It is a very responsive little netbook.
You could say that your netbook is similar to the rig in my signature, but I've still got you beat in all areas.
Seeing as this post already exists, I won't take the trouble creating another one just for me.
I was wondering what my nVidia Quadro FX1800 compares to. I think I've read something about similar performances to a GeForce 330 or something, but I'm afraid my GPU isn't quite that fast...
