I would get the i5 750 instead or even an i3 540. For dolphin that is very preferable to a phenom II.
Why ? What's wrong with AMD? Can you justify please?
Nothing is "wrong" with them. It's just that the current generation of intel cpus produce better performance per clock in dolphin due to various improvements (wider ALU and FPU pipelines and registers, out of order execution, better branch prediction, dynamic cache allocation, faster memory controllers, higher internal bandwidth between physical threads, SSE4.1/4.2, etc.). Considering for most applications the performance difference is extremely small and AMD platforms tend to be much cheaper both to buy and to upgrade for most situations AMD offers some very good products. However I believe the performance different between an i3/i5 and a phenom II in dolphin are significant enough to justify going for a P55 platform with an i3/i5 if you're building a system for dolphin.
-- Totally Agree With Natural Violence ! Phenoms are Just Close to Core 2's Performance Which is Not That Good When it comes to dolphin !!
-- C'mon man just get an i3 and OC it !!!
Ok, but I will not OC it because of what is said above. Now I want a mother bord, can suggest me one ?
can you*
Get an asus P55 board. Any of them will do.
You get what you pay for. If you check pcxs2 forums, the devs mentioned amd's implementation of sse2/3 is slow compared to intel. I have no means to verify that claim, unless there's an objective benchmark proposed for respective emulators. Maybe dolphin-emu devs can shed some light on this issue?
