I haven't yet the phenom I just want to know your opinion about it, if it's not able to run dolphin and especially Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 at full speed tell me and I will change it to another. So now either I take the amd phenom and I overclock it, or I take a core i7 920 and I overclock it too, what is the best between these two processors (I mean just in game in Dolphin)? And the AMD will be fine or I have to opt for the Core i7 920? If AMD will be good let me know because the i7 is a bit expensive for me ^ ^ and thank you!

(And sorry for mistakes )
What do you think about the core i5 750 ? He looks good, Because I read in an another tpic that :

RE: CPU help
i3 hands down. i3/i5/i7 have by far the best performance per clock with dolphin right now. However since they all perform similarly and dolphin only uses 2 cores you could/should save money by buying an i3. If you want a quad core just in case (for other applications) go with an i5 750. Or wait for sandy bridge to come out in February. "
So ?
If you have no budget limit, just go with the i7 980x. Its the fastest on the market, but it costs around $1000
If you want to save money go with amd. Fastest performance per dollar.
And yeah, OC is really easy. you can bump the phenom ii 965 up past the power of the 970 just by changing some multipliers and you dont pay 25 dollars extra for just 100 mhz more that the 970 has
Ok thanks, but I will choose the core i5 750 like it said here :

A phenom II would be fine for MOST games. However some of the heavier games like smg NEED an i3/i5/i7 to run at fullspeed in most places."
If it's a bad choise please advice me ! And thanks Smile
Woah, when did they put out 1100T x6 phenoms??
Looks neat, id recommend it for any amd platform.
A couple days ago. It's just a 100MHz bump in core clock rate, which amd does every once and awhile.
What ? I haven't understand sorry ^^'
I noticed that the i5 is more expensive, even than Phenoms II X6, and I have read they were more efficient than phenoms just in the office utilisation, and in games they are almost identical. So once again I return to the AMD 965Smile Is this true?
All that to say please give me something not expensive but wich is able to run dolphin at full speed in SMG (at MOST places), please don't tell me to take the i7 980X if a simple AMD II X4 may do the trick, and thanks ^^

yep 965 fight again i7 920 i7 930 in pc games if you are a player amd is a good choose dont buy athlon x4 they are less in cache .phenom 2 x4 965 is good 955 too but for the case of smg 1 and 2 no one get full speed all time i7 980 dont get 60 all time wait until the emulator will be more optimised but with my 965 i get decent speed i put it at 3.9 easy oc with a cooler play at 60 some drop at 50 but still playable .
Ok 1000 thanks Smile So I will buy the AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE 3.4 Ghz, what cooler do you have please ? And 450W is it enough ? ( I mean for OC ), and 3.6-3.7 is it enough for SMG ? and thanks again !
Can you please post some links to show me how to OC especially the AMD 965 or a video showing directly the changes to do?
depends on what mainboard you're using. Just enter the BIOS and somewhere in there you can manually set the multiplier for your cpu. in your case, you need to set the multiplier to 18x to overclock your cpu from 3.4 to 3.6 ghz. Also you will at least need 500 watt. don't change the vcore as it should be enough to overclock up to 3.6
