I hope to see Nintendo fail and either become a 3rd party developer like Sega or like PlaySkool (<- thats how they spell it I think) and make things like "My First Computer" for babies with real big buttons. Or a Mario version of Speak N Spell. That's the path I see Nintendo heading. Anything that embarrasses them or emulates them and brings them closer to that future makes me happy. /antiNintendorant

yeah... emulate 3d games on a 3d platform, makes sense. nintendo will get rich as hell off of this thing. the funny thing is, people will buy both the psp2 and the 3ds. why are you so angry at nintendo?

The games will all have the option of being played in 2D so it'll definitely be possible.
I think my anger at Nintendo comes from growing up with an Atari and then a Tandy and then an NES then Genesis then SNES then PS1 then N64 then DC and on and on and on and seeing Nintendo do the cart thing with the N64 screwing that up and then the GC being... bleh and then the Wii being bleh and the way they release 4 new versions of every version of their handhelds and keep doing these friend code things and keep living on OoT remake #1029 and Mario All Stars remakes and tons of shovelware and really just gouging money and putting out inferior hardware and really just IMO tarnishing their own name by refusing to get with the times and sticking with this standard def kiddie crap.
It's a lot of stuff lol.
It's not just Nintendo developers putting out random unplayable shovelware. Look at the game releases for the last few years for the 360 or PS3, the fact is besides the few multimillion dollar AAA+ titles, 90% of everything is crap.
Short license games, the same sports remakes over and over, dull FPS clones, the occassional generic JRPG etc..
Why? Because most game companies do not have the personnel or capital funding to make games like Zelda, Uncharted or God of War. Most companies only have 10-50 employees working full time.
They are just looking to make a living from games by selling enough to at least guarantee some sort of income. They don't care that much about reviews or any more quality assurance than is required by the publisher (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft).

Oh I know but then you look at Nintendo games and compare them to other consoles and a game like NSMB or the Mario All Stars Anniversary. They would be DLC on the 360 or PS3. It's not that they're bad games, but the quality, size, style etc. is more akin to a Live Arcade title than something you should pay full retail price for. And frankly I think there's bigger budget better games (yes I know bigger budget doesnt = better game but there are both bigger budget and better games that sell for less than half of what Nintendo want you to pay for 20 year old rehashes) available on Live Arcade and PSN that put a lot of Nintendo titles to shame.
As far as the shovelware thing goes yes all consoles have shovelware but theres no comparison between the amounton Wii vs the other consoles. And it's Nintendos fault for milking people putting out crap hardware and knowing suckers will pay it with empty promises of 3rd party support that they havent been able to maintain for decades on any of their devices and not being able to play ports of real current gen titles because they skimped on hardware.
And then there's the whole Japan thing. When I was a kid getting Nintendo Power back in the 80's it was like "OMG the Japanese rule video games! OMG they got a cool looking new one I hope we're lucky enough in the US to get it!" but now... no. I think Nintendo and their weak hardware and weaker games and lack of support from developers because of it tarnished their own reputation in the US over the years and in turn damaged Japans reputation. Nintendo can post all these crazy sales numbers and Japanese companies think "well Mario sells big in the US and it was a Japanese creation so we can do that and be OK!" But no. Japan stayed with the Nintendo style graphics and gameplay, lots of 2d or weird anime games and now their whole video game industry is ready to go belly up because they're trying to be Nintendo and Nintendo is 20 years behind the times so while the rest of the world is soaking up photorealistic games and western publishers can pump them out like glazeds at Krispy Kreme Japanese companies are still literally trying to figure out how to do it.
I know thats a lot of rambling but really I could fill a book on how much I think Nintendo has hurt video gaming in the last decade+ by their decisions.
Edit- and here's a great example from your post. You talk about Zelda and God of War both being big budget. Zelda is nowhere near God of War in terms of budget. And if it is it's because as I was saying Japanese are still playing catch-up in the game developing area and it could very well cost them as much to make Zelda as it costs to make God of War, but it's only because they dont know wtf they're doing. A western company could make that in less than half the time for less than half the money and probably make it better. Just recently on kotaku I read, I want to say it was Nintendos Miyamoto, talking about how the Japanese struggling because for years they've relied on these simple silly cartoony kid games while the west was researching HD graphics and how to optimize things to run well and how to turn out photorealistic games quickly efficiently and thats why Japanese gaming is dying. His words, not mine. My words would be "Blame it all on Nintendo."
brb making gamecube emulator for snes
lol. as if the google-code site is even displayed properly on an android.
But Nvidia's next ARM SoC is named Kal-El. If Superman can't handle it nothing can.
