No they're not. They are rumors IGN dug up.

u know that ps3 uses an Cell processor at 3.2 wich is like 7ghz if it was a x86, theres not even a way to compare it to a c2q.

also it has thos 6 synergy processor attached to it wich makes part of the cell architecture, each one is used to a specific thing, like one for float point another for integer, etc while a x86 uses the same core to do all stuff.

a common pc cant get that power not even with a i7.

the instrunction set of that beast has alittle of ppc style, but has a lot tweeks on it coz its a mix of sonys emotion something and may have some toshiba tweeks also.

well the video card is a nvidia g70(geforce 7000 series), and that sucks coz its not even shader 4 compliant on the pc, but i bet ps3 uses ogl or some other crazy api.

so i wonder what cpu u may have to be better than that cell processor beast.

ah, and by the way... stop saying... this hardware cant emulate that other hardware... we are talking about software here... dolphin isnt complete and is hard for it to be since the devs doesnt knows everithing it got to be known about the nintendo hardware.
ps3 is at least 3 times more powerfull than wii. if nintendo itself make an wii emulator for ps3 be sure i would kick ass, as u see some game ports for pc may be emulated, but noone says an 360 emulator for pc is possible right now.

a single 700 mhz processor against a 3.2 ghz with 6 auxiliar cores, cant see why it wouldnt be enough to emulate wii, if the software were just good enough

It's a lot more realistic than the notion of 360 level specs and it's Nintendo those specs for the most part fit their idea of cost effective gaming. They where never going to go the Sony path and create a PS3 equivalent (PSP2 rumored specs) handheld for probably some ridiculous price if it's true.

A lot of those were disproven right after the cell was released..It doesn't have multiple cores (it has 1 core and up to 8 SPU's on the die of which 1 is inactive and 1 for operating system; SPU's are not cores)

It also fares worse in general computing tasks than commercial core i7 processors (but much better than pentium processors)

Then again, clustering multiple i7 systems is much more expensive than just buying a bunch of ps3's at $299 so using linked PS3's as supercomputers isn't uncommon.

And you're right it's probably going to be a long while (if ever) before ps3 is emulated on a pc...

yeah. it wasnt worth messing with imo.
Okay, so now that we have the keys, is there any news ?

p.s. just wanted to start discussion again since a lot of stuff changed
No.
My xbox could never even play n64 games without tons of bugs and a lot of roms didn't even start but always worked on my computer.Emulating on consoles really sucks
What's funny here is that the topic of discussion now seems to be people think they'll have a 3DS emulator for the PSP2 and I bet they will. 3DS and its 96 megs of RAM and 320x240 screen with its $50 garbage games and $250 price tag suck monkey nuts. I hope to see Nintendo fail and either become a 3rd party developer like Sega or like PlaySkool (<- thats how they spell it I think) and make things like "My First Computer" for babies with real big buttons. Or a Mario version of Speak N Spell. That's the path I see Nintendo heading. Anything that embarrasses them or emulates them and brings them closer to that future makes me happy. /antiNintendorant
