SNes 9x, advancedMame...etc use the HQ2x filter to improve the graphics for 2D games.

Dolphin does not need HQ2x filter to improve the 2D graphic games?

Metal Slug (wii) Bad graphic.

I agree HQ2X looks awesome!

But there are not much 2D games anyway, so I don't think its really worth it.

P.S. Don't rage on me for replying to 2 year old post Big Grin
Guys, what about trying anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering?

WTF...OP asked about 2D games.
Anyway, it'd be nice to have some of these filters, especially 4xBR.
Try "Force Texture Filtering".
I'd prefer Super 2XsaI ^^
But I think texture filtering should do the job
And I think that it would be hard for developers to make a routine filter to only apply HQ2X filters on 2D textures (from what I know, the mentioned filters works well only with 2D graphics)...
Technically it's possible... It's probably not worth the work tough...

Well SSAA will effect 2D games (it will make them blurrier/smoother).

Not really, the implementation could be ported from https://github.com/Themaister/SSNES
This way we could load any available filters/shaders (they need to be compliant with it ofc). But I don't think it's worth doing so, as there aren't many 2D games out there.
