I've been trying to play this game for ages. I managed to kinda fix the graphics and the sound by messing with the configuration long enough, but the LLE audio stutters like crazy, and I still get the red polygon under my character. Can someone post the proper config for this game?
I have a 3.5Ghz overclocked Q9550 and HD4870X2, 4Gb or ram, and it's the only game I have that runs so horribly.
There is no proper config that makes this game work, and similar to what the guy posted about running it, you need a 4Ghz Quad Core to get this game even above 20fps, which is unacceptable. While it's a favorite to many here on this board, it's not a game that will be running anywhere near fine for a while (if ever, dev's really don't give a hoot about it).

8 months later, and this problem is still around. Seems that this game is too tough for the devs to crack!

Nah, I beg to differ. I haven't played it extensively, but from what I've done so far, the game runs nicely. I can easily get 30 FPS most of the time. Even when it drops, the game speed (VPS) is still 98-100%. The commit skid made to help with LLE on Thread gave me a sizable boost in performance. I built Dolphin myself to take advantage of faster instruction sets, hence it's a dirty build, but that made a lot of difference too. I still haven't OCed my i5-2500K, but even at stock, I'm running this game full-speed with perfect audio. The only outstanding issue seems to be the red shadows. Everything else is fine.
I'm new to the Dolphin scene so I'm just wondering if anyone can point me to an optimal build/revision or configuration for Skies. I've tried several builds (many of the revisions that work for Xenoblade that people have said also work for Skies) but even after tinkering with various configurations I can't get the sounds to work at all.
Thanks in advance!

The latest builds work just fine; most of the default options are okay. You might want to grab an optimized Windows build like
Lectrode's builds, to get the most performance.
To get the best sound, you
must set your DSP to use LLE. HLE audio doesn't cut it. LLE audio is more demanding, so if you get speed issues with HLE, your hardware's probably not ready for LLE. You have to dump your DSP files from your console first, there's a guide on how to do that
here. Enabling "Accurate VBeam emulation" (right click the game in Dolphin and look under "Properties") seems to let the game run smoother too. Check out the
Dolphin wiki entry for this game too. I should be adding some info to it soon, after a bit more testing.
Thanks a lot Shonumi, this gives me some things to try when I get home from work.
[Edit] Downloaded a new build and enabled those settings (luckily I had already dumped the DSP files) and tweaked a few things. It's not running as good as on the wii but it is pretty freaking close! Thanks a TON!)
