Dolphin, the GameCube and Wii emulator - Forums

Well I suppose I don't really have a choice do I? :/

I'm just saying that would really be a bad idea. What's next, PCSX2 surrendering their forums for an unofficial fan forum. 1emulation or Emutalk surrendering their forums to Emucraze or VT-Emulation?

Once that happens everything here will be lost forever, meaning if something happens with mamario or he bails then everything will be gone. The official forums should remain in control of the developers, project owners and admins, not handed over to some random Joe (who has only been around for a year) where nothing can be guaranteed.

Just saying, if people don't like the way things are ran, they could pull a ChaosCode.

For a project with so many members, admins, and developers who contribute everyday, you'd think this decision would be beyond one guys idea to just get up and go without talking to others. No one really owes anyone anything, but it could have been taken care of better, even forum admins here have no idea what's going on.

I don't really care where the forums are, where the main page is etc...but it is pretty obvious that his site does have regular updates and fairly recent content (let alone a wiki that seems to be pretty well maintained - in some places).
Not sure about the ads and stuff he apparently has (not seeing any, <3 AdBlock), but I wouldn't mind that either if it flows back into paying for the server, as long as its not too annoying (like the popups he also apparently had, but agreed to remove). It's not like i really visit the main page anyways.

I kinda understand Chaos' decision, and I wouldn't be surprised if others also choose to do the same; but in the end, Dolphin stays the same, the world isn't going to end, just the domain has an extra "-lator" in it.

can anyone shed any light why the site are forced to mamarios again? Why does he gets to decide over coders or admins etc?

There is no real reason to speak of, only that he maintains a Dolphin site and this site is basically abandoned by the owner. Had you started a site some time ago you could have just as easily been in control now too just by being there often and updating things from time to time. It's silly if you ask me, but nobody did.

I'm not sure if calling it "forced" is correct. It was the decision of a project founder to move over, for above mentioned reasons.

The issue here is that the official forums should only be under the control of the project founders and site admins for the reason I mention in my last post and other reasons.

To be honest, I would call this a reckless decision.

I kinda agree with Xtreme that this could be "dangerous". While I don't mind mamario earning a dollar or two with this (he has the server to pay and provides stuff and all, so I think it's ok...with adblock I don't even see any ads), it's just one person having a lot of power over the whole forum then, right? Well, let's just hope, he'll prove to be reasonable.
I'm just a bit surprised by this sudden decision cuz before it always sounded that would never happen.

Anyways, as long as it doesn't change the forum, I'm ok with it...
