Quote:I don't really get what you're saying. My processor is dual core running at 3ghz, i don't understand how that's in issue?

EDIT: As listed in the setup guide on this site, "A fast computer. (preferably Core 2 Duo or better, or high Athlon 64 X2(5200+ or better)"
I'm well above the necessary processor requirements.

Requirements usually indicate what is the minimum you would need to get playable speed in a couple of games, or to even be able to run it. You should look for recommended specs if you want the full experience, even in pc games. And recommended specs are way above yours. If you go by requirements Crysis can be ran in an old pc (just in a very low resolution with low settings) that practically make it look nothing than what you usually see in pictures. In this case it means you are able to run some games, in no way does it mean you can run everything, moreover demanding wii games. I will just say that there are games that can make my slightly overclocked core i7 to "cry", which is as i said earlier twice as fast as your cpu is. Even in Donkey Kong Country returns when i overlook the island map from above i am getting 50% speed.

And btw do you know what the relative performance difference between your cpu (Athlon 64 X2 6000) and Athlon 64 X2 5200+ is? 15 % difference. It is in no way,"way above the recommended specs". A game for example that run with an Athlon 64 X2 5200 at 20fps will jump all the way up to 23 fps. And that's about it.

in is case i would go for phenom 2 x4 965 3.4 easy go to 3.8
only change cpu and with this i reach max speed by the way video card is not good at all in my opinion always. what is good is you can change cpu wait a little bit time to get money and buy a am3 board later . intel are way more expensive i really find they powerfull but if you only play games pc phenom 2 x4 965 fight with 920 and 930 in games . but if you are making work intel is the choose right the way depend of what you make i think . last dolphin is more optimised for intel cpu but like i say i reach max setting with 1920 1080 and some games dont get full speed for any cpu in some game i7 dont reach full speed all the time .dolphin still in developpement

It's an athlon X2. The performance per clock of an athlon X2 is far below that of any other modern dual core cpu such as a core 2 series.

To add to the whole; the amount of hz/mhz/ghz of your cpu doesn't mean all that much. A 3ghz pentium 4 will run waaaay slower than for instance a core2duo e6600 @ 3ghz. Even though they run @ the same clockspeed. Obviously, the higher the clockspeed the better. But it's all relative.
alright thanks all.

also will an AM2 motherboard fit an AM2+ socket CPU? if so i was considering just getting an AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Deneb 3.0GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Processor

edit: nevermind the motherboard is AM2+ socket so it would work. Opinions on that processor to replace mine?
Also I'm running Super Mario Galaxy 2 right now at 120% speed at 75 fps.....so is everyone just saying that DKCR requires a much much better computer? because apparently my processor actually is way above the requirements....

Yeah dude, your processor is just way above the requirements. Stay with that and enjoy all the 75 fps you can get in Super Mario Galaxy 2... at the menus that is.

No, as the forums says the requirements for Dolphin are an Athlon 64 5200, and you are just way above them with your Athlon 64 6000. The slowdown with DKCR you experience? Probably your imagination Wink.

Say what?

pwc, could you post your graphic settings please? I've already mentioned this in two other posts, but i'm interested to see if this issue is related to this factor.

In your D3D9 settings, make sure to set EFB Copy to 'Texture', and NOT 'RAM'.

If you could, please test and let us know how it goes. Smile
