Heya,
I just experienced yet again that I couldn't respond to a thread because it got closed for reasons I don't see (and well, there weren't any reasons given by the mod either).
My opinion is as long as a thread doesn't violate the rules of the forums (or another sensible reason like the thread is a duplicate of another one), it shouldn't be closed; especially if people are in the middle of a discussion there.
I guess that's one of the reasons there are other forums like mamario's and Xtemulation and people are migrating there.
It'd be nice to discuss that matter here so I hope it'll not get closed immediately or I get banned ^^
Thank you
Threads?
Any reason it might of been closed for, such as off topic nonsense, warez, spam, reviving an old thread etc.. or something else that might have broken the rules?
I think he's referring to the recent thread about the next Dolphin release.
@Xtreme: Yeah, those would be sensible reasons. but unfortunately, some threads seem to get closed for nonsuch reasons.
One example would be this one:
http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/thread-13090.html
I think it was an alright discussion (and I wanted to add that one thing that has been said was very right and that's the fact that most newbies go to the official Dolphin site and download Dolphin 2.0, which of course leads to numerous annoying and unnecessary threads.) and it makes people unsatisfied when they are shut up. Especially if nothing wrong was done. So I'm just suggesting that threads should only be closed for good reasons.
Edit: @ NeoBrain: exactly, you were faster than me, here ^^ ...it's not just about that thread, though. It has happened several times, otherwise I wouldn't mention it.
hmmm, i can't remember closing that thread...
ChaosCode did it, I guess.

Usually it's common to close threads that ask about release dates for official versions. Official releases are posted when they are ready, usually once the code is stable and regressions ironed out or whenever the developers feel like posting a release and calling it official.
Alright, I know what you mean. But that thread had become rather a discussion about official releases altogether. And like I said, it wasn't just this time and this thread. But I don't want to make this a big deal or waiting for a justification or anything; just stating my opinion and maybe bringing people to reconsider next time they want to close a thread.
yeah, I agree that it was a bit unjustified to close that thread though.
Well I wasn't aware of the specifics regarding that thread.
Not sure who closed it, but I would take it up with whoever did when you find out who closed the thread and their reason.
