I'm a big Sonic fan and everybody is talking how this game is the first true Sonic game from many years ... and I can't play it ... such a shame !
I have to try everything possible to run this game with enough FPS ...
My PC is something like - Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz , GeForce 8800 GTS 512 ( I'm spending money for the EVGA GeForce GTX 580 Black Ops Ed. ) , 4 GB RAM and ... yeah. So my request is for someone who's pro with the Emu to help me get the most FPS for my config ... please
...
No need to forgo one of the better Sonic games; just play it on your wii for now.
You'll probably also get better yields for emulation if you get a better cpu and a good mid-high range GPU instead of going all in for the 580gtx. Just my opinion though.
IF I had a Wii ;D ...
Diathorus thank you, now the game runs at a playable FPS, but the problem is that every text data like tutorials subtitles menus and etc. is gone xD. Adn sometimes the screen turns all black, BUT I'll try to play it ^_^

Select Sonic Colours, go to properties, Projection Hacks and select Sonic and the Black Knight.

Umm ... there is no such thing in the build I use ... its r6441 :|
right click Sonic Colours, click properties, in the box beside "Projection Hack for:" select Sonic and the Black Knight.
Its there in r6441........
That hack doesn't stop the black screens.
Okay, a while ago I tested the game and it was quite slow.
But now with recent revisions, I've actually been playing it at full speed can you believe, 30FPS most of the time in stages.
Unfortunately the black screens are still a problem.
I think I know what the issue is, it's that Sonic is somehow glitched and transported to an extremely remote position on screen, devoid of graphics or any visibility, not even any way to pitfall to death, it's happened on the results screen which is treated *like* a level of its own.
If you can figure out the cause of Sonic transporting to a random location in specific scenarios, then you may have a flawless game with good speed (at least on a 3.6ghz E8600 like mine).
These specific scenarios can always be replicated, I can think of two, one in Tropical Resort (forgot the act), and another in Sweet Mountain Act 3.
Sonic transporting? i dunno......
i know sometimes when i clear the level sonic doesn't even appear on the results screen.
i think he once just disappeared suddenly before i started moving.
I posted a screencap of that problem on the google code site, it's issue 3471, basically when doing something the emulator doesn't like, like using the spike wisp, sonic will get randomly teleported resulting in a black screen and a sudden drop in framerate, it makes it nearly impossible to get some of the red rings.
hm, if that "transporting" was true, that would mean it's a core issue rather than a gfx issue, huh?
