confused as to how this work

im under the impression every time i load a new iso I have to goto graphic settings and change them as per the "working" settings on the forums here... is that correct?

Theres no way it automatically tweaks ur settings to play full speed optimally based on the settings here?

Thanks

You put general settings that provide speed like those in 1st post and these settings provide compatibility that slow down your pc only in those games that need them, so that you don't have to tinker with compatible settings or use them globally slowing down even games in which these compatibility settings are not needed. For now it mainly affects US games and it is a work in progress.

That's right, but the aim of this project is not to have to do even that in the end, at least in most cases.
That would be awesome, it is very annoying to have to change the settings every time i play a different game.
New version is up, main change is support for all wii game regions, and not only US from now on.

Gameconfigv008

I've uploaded Gameconfigv008 to the database. It should be picked up from Dolphin r6554 or later.

I also made some updates of my own.

Quote:It is the new game ini changes database. Right click on the game, select properties and tick enable efb to texture. It is set up this way for compatibility reasons, tick it and coins won't spin (some other glitches might appear too). It is not a problem with the emulator. Personally i find it useful that way, you know what settings you need for compatibility with the game and you change them if you want speed. I want to hear others opinions though, if you find it that big of an issue.

I would like to hear people's opinions about it, should there be efb to ram enforced by default for compatibility reasons through the game .ini files or not? Of course you can change it back anytime you want. In the case of new super mario bros the glitches aren't big, contrary to the speed drop.

It basically comes down to...
a)Always use the most compatible settings for the game by default.
b)Change them depending on the impact that they might have on speed (note that this is highly subjective matter, what is slow for you might be just fine for someone else and vise versa).
c)Never use more compatible settings by default if they lower speed.

Yeah, use the most compatible settings by default. That way, if an issue gets reported, we'll know there is something Dolphin does not emulate properly.

We can always point them to the performance guide if there is poor performance. That's easy.
Version 009 is up. Among others it complies to the latest database ini changes.

Gameconfigv009
Can you please, PLEASE also have a list of all the specific, non-defaul options changed in a word doc or something? So we don't have to overwrite our current configs and simply apply what changes I want to my files. Plus it would be really good for record keeping also!!! Thank you!!
