Sorry but the project is discontinued from my side. If anyone else wants to continue it be my guest.

Quote:The goal of this project is to put settings aimed towards better compatibility, so that someone who keeps as default settings that provide speed(efb to texture, no xfb,no safe texture cache, etc.), have good compatibility in games that need those costly settings without either having to tinker with them or sacrificing speed by enabling those settings globally(even in those that don't need them). Since not all settings are configurable per game right now, i provide points on how to fix them in the gui by crossing your mouse over the emulation state of the game.

Additional info
The general settings i use with these gamefiles are the ones below. There is no strict rule to follow them 100% providing you know what you are doing. If you don't, don't mess with them or change them back if needed. Some times there is info in the gui by crossing your mouse over the emulation state of the game on how to fix problematic games by tinkering with general settings that are not per game configurable at this point.

Finally this thread will serve as a place to comment about the ini files. I am open to suggestions and proposals for changes to be included. Anyone who has tested a game and thinks it needs specific settings to work correctly can write it here and it may be included in the next version. Just don't suggest stuff like " My character has a missing limp, the menus don't show up, but what the hell the game runs fast with this option, will you include it?" as it will most probably not be included.

Edit: Any windows user searching for a noob friendly release (and appropriate game.ini files) or people who doesn't like to change many settings to just test new releases can look in this thread for builds made by me:
http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/showthread.php?tid=13772

Edit2: I would also like to thank nash679 for his help with the settings and everyone else who participated in this thread.

Edit3:!!!IMPORTANT!!! Don't overwrite the Gameconfig folder, just copy the Config, Gc and Wii folders in the user directory when you update Dolphin. Otherwise you miss all the game ini updates of the database!
This is a community effort project. I would say go for it if you want to.

cyberdude

I would definitely take part of such a part project. The project could be started off as a seperate tool or web based in the beginning, and maybe later added to the dolphin client.

Great. Cyberdude do you have any coding skills? Personally i can only do testing and all the "grunt" work involved. Also a question is whether to just modify the current user\gameconfig files with proper per game settings and provide a download with the modified files for anyone to use, or literary create a database file from scratch and hope for a future implementation of that database in dolphin. First option seems to work better for now, second though is more flexible but it depends entirely on whether it will be used in dolphin or not in the future (otherwise it would end up a good point of reference but not more practical than things are right now).

Btw anyone else interested?
This is already being tackled in a few places. The current defaults preset, (i.e. distributed in the "User\GameConfig" folder) come from
Dolohin Cheats Database. I'm guessing such hasn't gotten much focus due to it being named "cheats", but it's the same ini's as we are discussing. Cheats will also likely be of less interest now that the Gecko codes integration works.

Some focus at the game settings level is going on in the Dolphin Wiki, but there there is no integration into the ini files.

One general concern is that only a sub-set of configs are controllable via the ini's. Frequently there are configs related to game compatibility that can't be controlled via the ini's. Until that's resolved a game DB won't really resolve the compatibility issues.
Yeh, I'll try to get access to the cheats database and start uploading the changes made here to it. I think the game ini's option is the best approach.

So Skidau just by posting updated game ini files in this thread you will update them automatically for Dolphin? That's great! Then i will start testing and post an updated ini files package hopefully by tomorrow.
Yes, try to get the files to me in some sane way considering that I do not have every game and that someone will need to verify the settings before they become part of the Dolphin install.

Neither do i have every game and this proves a bit more time consuming than i thought, it will probably take a few days more. At least i found issue 3466 in the process till now.

Anyone else out there willing to help btw?
