I stumbled on this link just now. Somebody is apparently working on a fantastic looking TP retexture pack. However the Emutalk servers are down (again) - so I can't locate the pack, if it has been uploaded anywhere. Does anybody have a D/L link to this for me?

Many thanks

I know this is an old-er thread, but given the limited number of threads on this subject, and that it is still less than a year old. I hope nobody has a problem with my posting here. I'm sure a mod will scold me if I'm wrong.

Hello Dolphin Forums. This is my first post! yay! I've been using dolphin for a few years and I've decided to get into the forums. I thought I'd shed some light on this.

AaronLite - The maker of the screenshot above has (as far as I can tell) abandoned the project. Its sad because his work is REALLY GOOD! As source to my claim, I submit to you this quote from emutalk.net dated May 20, 2011:
AaronLite Wrote:TP work from me is practically dead. I mean i've done a bit more from there, but not a ton. If a quality TP project comes up sometime, i'd be more interested to help than doing things solo.

I would also like to throw out there, that I've started my own TP retexture. I'm sad he's off the project because his work is definitely better than mine. I hope to contact him soon, and see if he wants to lend a hand with my project. Sadly emutalk is taking forever to send my registration confirmation email... but that's a story for a different post. I plan to see this project through to the end.

Anyways, I've set up a website for my retexture project. You can check out screenshots here. I hope to get more people on the project, because I'm working kind of slow. I may not be the best texture artist, but I'm being VERY stingy on quality control. I'm trying to make the textures consistant throughout the game.

There is a texture size limit in the game, I'm not sure what it is yet. some textures won't load over 512 some will go up to 2048...

If anyone wants to help out, please contact me. Its a large project. I want to get it done, even if I can't do it myself.
I fully support and wish i could help these kinds of projects. Maybe there should be a group of people who start a kickstarter donation page, or something, anything.

Only good can come from this.
I do not want donations. ever. I have no problem working on this in my spare time, and it doesn't cost me anything. Therefore I don't see any use in getting donations.

I would like help on the project. But my issue is quality control. I may not make the best textures, but I want them to be consistant throughout the game. I don't want one area to have 512 grass made with colored dots, and another to use 1024 grass made with a straw texture. My goal is to make it so that if you load up my pack, without ever having played the game, you won't even notice it. You'll just think that's how the game should look; even if it could look a little bit better.
Awesome man, i Hope you finish itSmile

The Following has been translated using Google Translate:

I checked out the link to the dolphin page. Isn't the dolphin forums an english forum?
As for the links on there to that texture project. I find it interesting. Most notably it is fairly far along (so far as I can tell). Did you do that? or was it another that you found. I'm basically making my project public from the get go so that I get support rather than having people not see one and start a new one like I did.

I do have to make a point about it though. Although I like those textures. they look good. BUT; I don't think they're true enough to the originals. When I texture I'm trying to take the original game and make it look 'better' not 'different'. This may just be a play on words, but If other's want to make a different style texture pack, please do so.

Interesting about the Texture dump naming... I'll do some research into that. I've been using different revisions and haven't had any problems. I'll try running a VM or two, and get my brother to do some dumping. Maybe we can work out the kinks.

I truly do believe that the hardest part of a texture project is dumping the files, and organizing them into the correct directories. I've barely done any of that myself. At this point what I do is, Invert the color of the texture, and number it. Then when I find an off color texture in game I take note of the number and go do that texture. I can see where other people may not go to through the trouble of doing that, but I'm REALLY working on quality control. I spend twice the amount of time in the emulator than I do in the graphics program when working on a texture making sure that its the right size, seamless, the correct color, has the right amount of detail, the right saturation, and scale to the other custom textures around it. I have screenshots on my website of these WIP textures with the numbers for identification, check it out sometime, if you haven't already. bit.ly/ZeldaHD

Thanks for the link, I'm glad to see more people interested in such a project. I'm surprised I haven't seen that one before.
I put the images there are tests like the video and I am aware that there are good textures parahacer that make them better
I have all the time in the world to work on this project

So if in the last rev I can not dump textures I create the folder
I expect another rev and try to dump

What I would like to know if you could edit the original textures?
StepDragon, glad you are in the community. I know there are people out there who would like to help you with that project. You could find help here probably:

http://www.emutalk.net/forums/126-High-Resolution-Textures?s=4d4fe9aab73c98f141a9d3fffbcc6257

But it would be good to keep us up to date on the Dolphin forums!!

I have a question, could we use some of his retextures? I mean, no reason to let his work go to waste! Unless it would be visually jarring compared to the ones you and (hopefully) others do?
Thanks for the praise. I'm definitely no expert on texturing. I've seen others work and would LOVE to know how they accomplished it. I was going to college for graphic design, but decided against it because I don't have the work ethic for it. That doesn't stop me from doing side projects like this.

I've actually already made some posts on emutalk. Its not my thread so I'm trying to steer away from it. you can find it here (linking page 4 because that's where I come in) http://www.emutalk.net/threads/52991-Legend-of-Zelda-Twilight-Princess-retexture-WIP/page4?highlight=retexture

Like I've said before, I'm not the best texture artist in the world. I'm not even maxing out the possible resolution of the textures. I'm just trying to make textures that look like the originals but higher resolution. One of my quality controls is that when I'm done with a texture, I blur it and the original with a Gaussian filter and If they look to different I'll change something.

I'm actually writing a texturing tutorial right now that I'll be posting on my website in the next few days. Keep and eye on my blog for the update. I'm gonna outline my methods for dumping, texturing, and loading. I'm sure I don't have the best method in the world, but If there's anyone who either wants to start a project, or wants to help out with mine, Linking to a tutorial (on my site ^.^) will surely be a help.

Anyways, Here are some Links to Before & After screens from my project. Hope you enjoy them, and remember critique is welcome!
