5186 win32 SSE3 with multi path
5186 x64 SSE3 with multi path
Thanks for the advice.
But everyone thinks that the newer version is better. Or am I wrong?
In 6275 my game is fine, but after a time (1-2 hour in game) and there are mistakes, including FIFO errors.
This doesn't even have an Australian release date yet. Freaking sucks, I'm excited about a Kirby game.

No way you're going to get it, this game is too violent for Australia. It depicts some of the most gory images I've ever seen. Tongue

Anyway, it's amazing how accurately this game is emulated, and as a programmer myself, I can't help but scratch my head constantly at how some of these effects on the game are done! I guess I'll have to take a look at some texture dumps... It's kind of inspiring really.

Shame it works very slow ATM. The quality doesn't look THAT much better to me from the Wii's definition to 720p for this game(since it depends a lot on the texture's size), so I guess it's not really worth the slowdowns.

You're in luck, I just finished the game ("proof" I beat the final boss; spoiler-y, though you can guess who it is if you watched the opening flick Wink).

Here's a little review:

Graphics: 9/10
The game looks great. The graphics are crisp even at 1080p. There were no glitches that I could see, and the game runs at 40+ FPS throughout.

Audio: 9/10
Great music, great sound. A few crackles here and there but nothing serious.

Cuteness: 11/10
'Nuff said.

Playability with an Xbox controller: 8/10
99% of the game is played with sideways-wiimote so it plays just fine with a controller, and the game is very responsive. A few parts can be a bit tricky:
  • Two times you need to tilt the wiimote, which can be done with the right analogue stick. The first time it's not strictly necessary but the second it is, if you want to beat the game.
  • In another part you have to place some furniture to unlock the minigames. You do this in point-at-screen mode. Use the right stick as a cursor.
  • A last part requires you to draw lines on the screen in point-at-screen mode (like the DS-Kirby). This is required to progress in the game but fortunately there is no time limit so you can practise a bit.

None of these parts last more than 5 minutes so they don't hamper progress too much.

Fluidity: 7/10
After some fiddling with the settings (see below) I got the game to run mostly fluidly. Still there are some significant slowdowns in parts with lots of action, specifically water and boss fights, even on a modern machine. If in the intro movie the sound is not synchronous with the video your game will run slow and you'll have to try some settings to get it faster. Though even if it is synchronous there will be slowdowns.

Overall: 9/10
Would play again.

I would have posted more but apparently F9 doesn't work too well with OpenGL (empty .png files Sad)
@ piderman: Uuh, you shouldn't mix up rating/reviewing the game itself and how well it runs on Dolphin Wink
You might want to disable Anisotropic Filtering, since in a 2D-game you won't need it anyway...and V-Sync can steal you a lot of FPS while with OpenGL I didn't have any tearing effects; so you should try with it disabled. Thx for sharing your settings & experience, though Smile

The game is so adorable, you just want to shout it out Big Grin

FPS was never an issue, and the AF is my default setting. The slowdowns I think are CPU related but I'm not sure; it happens in other games as well, most notoriously in Twilight Princess, though I think someone improved it there.

speed is slow!

Found a solution to the speed issue - use r4775 (just like NBA Jam). It runs 100% speed for me so far. Though I have encountered some crashing.

Hopefully, Skid can sort out the problem and then all of these games should be running nice and fast as they should!!
