You can try using the D3D9 Graphics plugin with the "EFB Copy to Texture" option, for a slight speed boost.
But you still won't get decent speeds in any GC/Wii games.

excuse me, but i have a laptop with quad core,4gbs of ram,ati graphics card,i want to know,does the dolphin emulator kater to 4 cores? cause it doesnt seem like it, i've played mmos that have the same,if not more gfx than gc & wii games & they run perfectly, if it isnt, is there anyway another version could be created with an option implemented for quad cores?

No sir it does not "kater" to 4 cores only to two. Emulating games is much more cpu intensive than just plain old pc gaming. 4 core will never be implemented because it isn't worth the effort at all.

OC belongs to the used CPU too. If you have the highest end of a CPU series, there is a space for oc that is so small, that it is useless to think about doing that.

I'll just add that the emulators for GC/Wii/PS2 are CPU intensive because they are emulating the hardware at the same time. PC games utilizes hardware installed in your computer.

Hello,
My configuration :
Code:
Hardware :
* Core2Duo E8400 @3GHz
* 4Gio of RAM
* ATI HD4870 512Mio

Software:
* Ubuntu 11.04 64bits (Natty)
* Linux 2.6.38-12 generic
* ATI Catalyst 11.11

I tried a lot of configurations to play Xenoblade: nothing to do, it's slow. The CPU is always at 100%. HLE with the sound is horrible, with LLE is even slower (but the sound is a little better). I feel that the GPU twiddle one's thumbs while the CPU kills himself to the task (increase, even strongly, the graphic quality is not slowing down more) What is the cause of this slow?

The processor or the fact of using Linux?
You think if I took a QuadCore the game will be smooth?

No. Dolphin only uses two cores anyways.

Quote:The processor or the fact of using Linux?

It could be both.

What I need from you is:
1. How slow are we talking about (run it in windowed mode and check the game speed)?
2. Settings?
3. Version of dolphin?
Oh, ROFL. OP looks like a complete troll. The answer is completely obvious.

Thank you for worrying about me.
I conducted a series of measures. Before providing the results, here is the testing protocol:
  1. Dolphin-emu is launched with admin rights (in case...)
  2. In windowed mode
  3. I use glakkeclock to measure the activity of the GPU
  4. The CPU activity at idle is about 10%
  5. The GPU activity at idle is about 0%
  6. 1,4/4Gio of RAM used in idle
  7. The measurement is taken during the first fight scene of the game Xenoblade
  8. Dolphin version used is 3.0-201 (installed from the ubuntu PPA)

The standard measure : Configuration (almost) by default
Code:
* Dual Core
* JIT64
* HLE
* DTK
* Audio throttling
* Audio engine : Pulse
* EFB copy to tex
* Disable external image buffer
* Fast Mipmaps
* disable depth/pixel

RESULTS :
* GPU : 0% (20% when toogle to perf mode 2)
* CPU : 99%
* RAM : 1,6/4,0Gio
* FPS : 17
* VPS : 34
* Dolphin speed : 68%

experimental JIT
Code:
(diff from default)
- JIT64
+ JIT64IL

RESULTS :
* GPU : 0%
* CPU : 99%
* RAM : 1,6/4,0Gio
* FPS : 15
* VPS : 30
* Dolphin speed : 60%

GPU killer
Code:
(diff from default)
+ internal resolution : 2x
+ Anti-aliasing : 4x
+ Aniso : 8x
+ pixel light

RESULTS :
* GPU : 0% (always on perf mode 2 (==activty)
* CPU : 99%
* RAM : 1,6/4,0Gio
* FPS : 14
* VPS : 30
* Dolphin speed : 60%

so fast
Code:
(diff from default)
+++ Ignore EFB copy from CPU
--- EFB copy
+++ Tex cache : fast
+++ enable external image buffer (virtual)
--- Lighting
--- fog
--- alpha pass
+++ buffer list views
+++ wire rendering (ergh!)
+++ no tex (!)

RESULTS :
* GPU : 0% (always on perf mode 2 (==activty)
* CPU : 99%
* RAM : 1,6/4,0Gio
* FPS : 21
* VPS : 47
* Dolphin speed : 90%
Use an earlier version of dolphin. 3.0 if you can. I also think it's weird that your gpu load is being reported as 0% no matter what you do, clearly glakkeclock is not correctly monitoring your gpu usage.

Actually the OP acts a little like that angry German kid in that video you posted in Delfino Plaza.
