Quote:Why do you say "near the end of the game"? Does it tend to slow down more the further you get?
Yes. As more places open up the slowdown gets worse. But this is only if you are not using the tp speedup hack, which fixes this.

@Ocean

Don't feed the trolls you fool!
Well hyrule field = 65 fps with fps limited at 65, it doesnt even flicker, havent tried the mario galaxy slow down place...

How far into the game are you? And are you using the tp speedup hack? Are you using efb to ram or efb to texture?

He must have just entered the hyrule field. Otherwise, lets ask zurginator about 65 fps on whole hyrule field Tongue

Nope, he is correct about three threads maximum. With dsplle on thread the lle plugin is given it's own thread and therefore dolphin uses three threads. However since most people don't use the lle plugin or dsplle on thread for most people dolphin uses two threads, but it can use 3.

Quote:I am guessing because of DDR2 vs DDR3 though I have not been able to confirm that yet.

When xtreme gets his i7 rig back up and running I'm going to have him run some tests that will prove/disprove that the memory bandwidth is the cause of the speedup. So we will have our answer soon.

I've got my i7 back, I can provide some benchmarks. I sold my Core2Duo E8500 system so I can only provide previous results from memory.

My i7 was OC'd to 4.2 Ghz, but I lowered it to 4 Ghz along with the voltages to decrease temps until I'm able to properly reapply the thermal paste. Slowest part of Hyrule Field is 25 FPS - 30 FPS, if I disable the frame limiter it sometimes jumps up to 45 FPS - 50 FPS.

With my i7 950 and DDR3 1600 ram I have 25 FPS - 30 FPS in the slowest part of Hyrule Field without the speed hack, if I disable the frame limiter it sometimes jumps up to 45 FPS - 50 FPS. My Core2Duo E8500 @ 3.16 Ghz system with DDR2 800 ram only got 12 FPS - 15 FPS without the hack and overclocking to 4 Ghz didn't really make any difference.

My i7 at stock is even stupidly fast compared to my previous system.

So, simple conclusion : Core i5/i7 Quad Cores are best for emulation... Angel
And btw, which GPU do you own??
I own a GTX 460, but GPU seems to make little difference. I replaced my 9800 GT with one of my GTX 460's in my Core2Duo E8500 system before a sold it and there was no increase of FPS. I'm not sure if it's the i7, the fast DDR3 ram or both that gives much better performance.
Xtreme2damax, are you using tri-channel DDR3 RAM (3 sticks of RAM)?
@Skid

Yes he is.

@Xtreme

I'll eventually get around to contacting you about benchmarking. It's going to be a few weeks though.
