My CPU is a Core i7 950 OC'd to 4.2 Ghz and the DX9 plugin is still way faster than OGL. You must have not configured the plugin correctly if you are getting such poor speeds, or you are still trying to use the DX9 plugin on an old revision instead of the latest.
