Hello Everyone!

I'm running a Core i5 520m with a 330m nVidia Geforce GPU and I have 4GB DDR3 RAM. (MacBook Pro)

Even though I have a Core i5, I see that my performance in Super Mario Galaxy is sub-par using the OS X build (I compiled it myself using a guide). I have the following problems...

1. I can't use the keyboard to control the Wii pointer, nothing is working.
2. I get about 25 fps in the menu - I can't go into the game since I can't fully navigate the menu due to problem #1. I get 25 fps regardless of the resolution, I set it to 640x480 or 1280x720 and the results are the same.

I read that selecting Optimize Quantizers might help but I can't find that in the OS X configuration menu.

If anyone can help me, I'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Use Direct X 9

So you're saying the Windows port is the one to use?

I'm currently using the default configuration, aside from 1280x720. Also I still can't get controls to work. I think I need to install Windows on my machine again.

OK, I tried it in Windows and the performance is even worse! I get about 20 fps now!

That's the guide I used.
turn off HT in your Bios.
it is useless and (very) contraproductive for dolphin.
it slows dolphin down a lot.
(does a mac have a bios? xD)

Wrong, I have an intel xeon x3440 i7 @ 4.4ghz with hyperthreading on and have tested HT on/off extensively through a bunch of games (in dolphin) to see a performance difference. There was NO performance difference with ht on or off.

Second of all, i5s don't even have hyper threading capability.

His issue is more centered around a mobile processor version of the i series (slower) and a sub par mobile gpu. He would get good performance in windows 7, but running dolphin with mac on that rig will see a big performance hit.

The problem is that I was running Windows 7, and I was getting 20 fps using the guide I linked above. I'm not sure what's wrong.

no wonder you don't notice a speed issue on an i7 with 4,4ghz...
but slower models really DO have a speed issue with HT enbabled.
btw: according to this: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_der_Intel-Core-i-Prozessoren#Core_i5_2
a core i5 520m has 2 cores and HT for 4 threads and only 3MB L3-cache.

your i7 xeon has 8MB L3-Cache (nearly 3x more) and nearly the double clock frequency.

Some i5's have hyperthreading, including his processor (i5 520m). :\

And I tested that forum claim months ago with underclocked i7 (8 threads enabled in bios) and there was a performance hit at about 2.2ghz without turbo.
Disabling HT can really help those running at medium clock frequencies
