If you are hitting 65c running LinX then I wouldn't go any farther until you invest in better cooling. The TJMAX for those chips are around 75c, and 65c is just too close.
You don't want to run a chip above 60c at any time, even under load.

This is an earlier post, but someone said "no that's normal" in response to it.

This is absolutely NOT normal. 65c at stock settings is a bad temp. You do not want to overclock until you invest in better cooling.
Very nice guide

Hey so I want to start OC'ing, which is what my motherboard was designed for anyways. However first I want to get a liquid cooling system. So far I have a pump (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835108082), but I honestly don't know what to do. This is the first time I have ever built a computer so I was pretty confused about the whole thing. I don't even have tubes. Also do I need a waterblock?
I use a self contained kit. It was just easier than buying all the parts to a full loop.

The cooler that I use is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181010

Maybe someone else can give you advice on the parts you need to finish your water cooling kit.
Yes you need a waterblock. You'll need waterblocks for whatever you want to cool with it, but I don't know what the good parts are because like I said I use a self contained kit.

Sounds like a plan. I'm liking this overclocking thing. I am only at 3.7Ghz, and I have tested out several games with 4 players, and all of those games, even with 4 players at once, will not dip much below 100%. Now to see if I can fix the wiimote lag issue.
Cool to hear that a few of you are having success.
Just an update. I used the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus, and my CPU temperature dropped a good 15C under full load. For thermal compound, I used Silver Artic 5 or whatever it's called. I did buy a second fan, but I was too stupid to look to see if I had more than one 4-pin connector. Do you guys know of have any ways to work around this so that I can get more than one CPU fan going? Also, my ram is in the way of adding a second fan because one set has a massive heat sink on the top. Would I be able to just switch my ram sets around and not have to configure anything? Also, I used the program LinX to stress test my CPU, and the average time it took for each test iteration to clear went up by several seconds when I went from 3.7Ghz @ 1.405v and 18.5 multiplier (what I got my first overclock on my Phenom II 965 x4 up to on stock cooling) to 3.8Ghz @ 1.430v (first voltage at which the CPU would pass LinX stress test) and 19 multiplier. Does that mean that my CPU is slower since it took more time for it to pass each test iteration or what?

He said the truth , 160 FPS with Frame-limit off .
Btw , Look at the date of that post before you response (3 years ago)

Yo, don't start calling people "****ing" liars without knowing what they're talking about. And try not to ressurect such an old thread unless you have something relevant to add to the discussion.
