@Bigsteve3570
I've experienced first hand that indeed an Athlon x2, at about 1 GHz higher than Core 2 (conroe), is faster. And even more so if we factor that Core 2 in question is mobile which is known to be deprecated and even slower than the desktop counterpart.
Please, if you want to troll, show some effort.
Anyway,Intel Dualcore is cheaper than Intel Core2Duo so you can spend more buck for GPU.Overclock CPU will be nice
everybody here....
a core2duo with 2ghz will blast off an amd x2 at 2,8 core clock.... at STOCK SPEED!
and 8700m is a way better than the 6150 se....
i compared an amd 6000+ to my core 2duo at stock speed (3ghz core)...
a friend of mine has an amd 6000+ (3ghz core clock) , in former times my cpu was at 3ghz core clock too... he got only 30-40 frames on smash bros brawl .... i got over 80 fps with 4 players with a radeon x1950 wich is only a little faster than a geforce 8700m ...
go fore the core2duo with 8700m...
A big thing with the difference in the two is that as the clock speed on both increases, the difference in performance between them also increases.
Also for the record, I don't hate AMD.

I've got 2 Athlon systems right now.
yes that' it...
nice proof..... just as i said, go for intel.
Yes since synthetic benchmark is be all end all proof, well i've presented my input before (based on rl experience), the choice is yours to follow OP.
jesus, don't you people relent? how many games do you think he's gonna run at 100% with a 2ghz core 2 and a g84? the desktop can be upgraded relatively cheaply to provide a much more satisfactory experience in dolphin.
Dolphin does benefit highly from the excellent brand prediction of penryn based CPUs so yes, core 2 duos do have a much higher performance per clock than athlon X2s both in general and in dolphin. I'de say about 80-120% higher IPC. So a core 2 duo running at 2GHz is about equal to an athlon X2 running at 4GHz, I have a friend with an athlon X2 who is running dolphin so I can confirm this personally. And it doesn't take a genius to know than an 8700m will be miles faster than a 6150le so the OP should definitely go with the 1st rig.
80-120% in dolphin? woah, any proof?
Synthetic benchmarks are in place SPECIFICALLY to tell the performance difference between them. No duh I use them to show differences, THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE FOR!
Athlon architecture was built to combat the Pentium line.... which it dominated. AMD then slapped another core on to combat Core 2.... which didn't work as well.
Athlon II/Phenom II were then designed to combat the Core 2 line, which they do well. They DON'T do so well against the i series, with even the 920 @ stock beating the 1090t @ stock in quite a few tests.
