id does increase speed , you dont believe me ?

many ppl confirmed this

http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/thread-11611.html

it worked for me too
It's fake fps..

There is no real speedboost, the fps may increase but the game feels just as slow. This only works with XFB enabled and the doubled fps are because XFB is using one less buffer to render, not sure how to explain it but one of the more experienced developers can explain it better than I. This is also why quality is worse with XFB than it is with it disabled, without XFB the image is rendered to two buffers, one buffer is a backbuffer and another buffer that improves quality with EFB -> Texture. Taking one of those buffers out reduces quality and doubles fps, but it is not real fps and there is no real increase of speed.

I would urge a developer to test this and confirm what I explained above rather than wasting time to implement a feature that might be rather useless.
it's not fake , i didnt see any slowdown in speed , so it's not fake

btw i did not check the real XFB too

if this easy i could search and do myself but programming is not my field , i had no idea after installing bunch of stuffs lol...

i had the code provided by billiard , now i need to know how to "put" in dolphin =/
lol ok, if you say so.. Rolleyes

XFB/real XFB, same difference, both basically achieve the same thing. This is only verified to work with either XFB or real XFB enabled, so please refer to my explanation. I never said it caused slowdowns, just that there is no real speed boost, an increase in fps != increased speed. I have tested this and it only works with XFB enabled, while the fps are doubled, the games do not feel any faster than before. Other members have basically confirmed the same exact thing except a few members that keep insisting just because the fps are doubled, that the game must be running faster. This is simply not true, again refer to my explanation and read it carefully.

Want better speed? Get better hardware, that is the solution, there is no other way. Better speeds come with better hardware and optimizations of the software, there is no magical fix to solve speed issues with underpowered hardware.

In other words the FPS/VPS counters will report double the speed, but the actual game speed is less than that and can even be as much as half of what the FPS/VPS counters are reporting, no different than before.

OK, Xtreme2damax, how can you try to make me belive that it's all fake FPS when Im ACTUALLY seeing everything moving FASTER! on my screen. Given it doesnt work on Mario Kart for me, but mostly everyother game does(KART displays fake FPS for some reason). I dont have a camcorder or anything to record, but here is a link the original guy posted with a you tube video that shows it being faster when he enables and slower when he disables. LINK HERE PLEASE>>>>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCHJTm-GaD4
If you have an older computer in the house 2.0 duo or lower, try it out and see for yourself.
I never really post here, but seeing how many ppl are basically calling me crazy just made me speak up.
If you believe this has any benefit for speed, you are going to undoubtedly be duped into thinking it actually increases speed. Similar to how all teh noobies seem to believe that mamamario's builds are supah dupah faster than everyone else's builds when they are just compiled from the vanilla source code with no modifications.

Seriously read what I explained, there is no way this would increase speed and even Billiard stated this himself. It only artificially increases speed, it has no effect on actual game speed.

You posted a video, but you neglected to post two separate videos comparing the speed, one with the overlay enabled and one without. It would just take me a second or two to determine whether or not you are full of it.

Lol, you are not crazy Tongue, you are just deceived. Since this is reported mostly by people with weak systems i wouldn't be surprised if the difference is made by the fact that a part of the screen isn't properly rendered or something. There is no free meal. Just by unticking the overlaying text selection you will get the result you are searching for which is .... that what you are asking doesn't work apparently Rolleyes.
Well prove it then, increased FPS does not mean an increase of actual game speed. There is no way this would increase speed whatsoever, particularly on crappy systems. I can actually tell the difference when a game is not running full speed, so post some comparison videos and prove me wrong if you desperately believe this increases speed.
hey extreme if you watch the youtube video closely it does look like it speeds up a little bit but then again...it could just be the position of the picture...idk...maybe theres an error in the dolphin source code thats been over looked because no ones thought to looked there.....

you never know...

and no this doesnt do shit for me...jsut find it interesting and funny to read people get in heated battles over it lol Tongue
Comparison videos weren't posted, for all I know the game could have always ran that slow/fast.
