hey i was wondering how a nvidia geforce 8400 gs would work with this emulator?
other specs:
4GB ddr2 ram
600 GB HD
intel dual core processor
Vista home premium
It would work ok with SOME games at 640 x 480 without AA but a lot of games would have slowdowns even at 640 x 480.
hm ok. so whats a decent, cheap card that i should look for?
or a couple suggestions?
Also, what's the specs on the "intel dual core processor"?
2.20 GHz
and i have no problem using 640x480
(whats AA?)
and yes im in USA
Well if you have almost no budget pick up a 9500GT from one of those links ($57 after shipping and handling) and that should run most games at 720p but some will need to be lowered to 640 x 480. If you want to run all your games at 720 p or higher spend a little extra money and get a 9800GT, GT 240, or 5670 which can be had for about $100.
AA = anti-aliasing, if you don't know what it is or what it does don't worry about it
I would highly recommend you save some money and use newegg.com if you can since your in the united states.
I should also warn you now that even if you get a better video card that cpu will struggle with a decent number of games.
You really need to post all of your hardware first. Depending on your mobo or ram you might be able to upgrade your cpu to a significantly better one without needing to buy a new mobo and ram. I also want to make sure you have enough power. Changing your os to windows 7 64 bit would also yield a nice speedup once you have a 64 bit capable cpu (assuming you don't already since you haven't told me what cpu you have, just the clock rate).
GT240 are terrible cards for Dolphin. Unless you are sure that incompatibility issues have been solved between this card and Dolphin I'll go with the 9800GT.
