As the title says!
Dolphin's great. If Nintendo hears something about Dolphin, what will they do.
Who knows ? Perhaps they already use it for trailers or something like that.
I always wondered why the trailers are 1080p.
I don't think they would share your sentiments.

Quote:What Does Nintendo Think of the Argument that Emulators are Actually Good for Nintendo Because it Promotes the Nintendo Brand to PC Users and Leads to More Sales?

Distribution of an emulator developed to play illegally copied Nintendo software hurts Nintendo's goodwill, the millions of dollars invested in research & development and marketing by Nintendo and its licensees. Substantial damages are caused to Nintendo and its licensees. It is irrelevant whether or not someone profits from the distribution of an emulator. The emulator promotes the play of illegal ROMs , NOT authentic games. Thus, not only does it not lead to more sales, it has the opposite effect and purpose.

How Come Nintendo Does Not Take Steps Towards Legitimizing Nintendo Emulators?

Emulators developed to play illegally copied Nintendo software promote piracy. That's like asking why doesn't Nintendo legitimize piracy. It doesn't make any business sense.

But dolphin developers actively support and guide users to play authentic games without hurting Nintendo's rights or using illegitimate copies.
Dolphin=legal, piracy = illegal

Yes, piracy should be illegal, and they should go after those distributors, not dolphin developers.

Either way they probably aren't too happy about it's emergence, but I haven't read of them taking any legal action either (maybe admin can confirm but I'm 99.9% sure they've never contacted dolphin devs)
I haven't ever seen a 1080p Nintendo trailer... but trailers are mostly rendered by a computer directly from the 3D software used to make the game models in the first place, so any resolution/AA could be applied to make it look better than on wii.
Always thinking about money. Rich stubborn bastards. If I was a lead developer of Nintendo I would be very happy with emergence of an emulator that could emulate my very own console. Emulating is not illegal... it is the people downloading the games. Many people use tools to play pirated games on the Wii console... emulating doesn't harm sales. Okay, maybe it hurts the selling of Wii consoles...but yeah, some people hardy have a proper LCD @ home, using Dolphin and buying games can actually boost sales! I am fine with it if you download a rom from the internet, (good luck with 50 hour downloading), and test it before you buy it, then delete within 24 hours. That's fine. Anyway, this is the least I'd expect from such a large, favorite company like Nintendo! Hmm, maybe, maybe they know that the devs of Dolphin don't support piracy and that's why they don't take legal action.

Besides, this program is written by its own devs. It's not like we stole code from Nintendo's console, no. Hard work 24/7/52/365, this emu isn't perfect but what it does is amazing. I'll continue to support it till my last breath!
Dolphin emulator still need Wiimote, Nunchuck, Motion Plus,sensor bar ... and even a wii to run wiimenu ,create backup.Nintendo will have more money from that
I think either Nintendo should ship their motion sensing to PC or they shouldn't blame Dolphin being illegal... I am dreaming of a day when we will see a DVD of Zelda PC by nintendo.!!!Angel
