Honestly, the dolphin 2.0 candidate runs everything a lot faster. I'd love the new dx9 plugin but it makes it crash. My question, is why does this emulator get slower with every reversion?

I cannot run melee sa2b anymore at full speed. I even get lag in LoZ four swords and that game isn't even 3d.

depends on game, plugins, settings, your rig, and there is a lot of games that are more stable on recent revisions, some games are faster, others are slower, some games now dont hang anymore, and in specific cases you will need a specific revision that 2.0 dolphin cant emulate or have serious crash problems.

dolphin 2.0 its the official stable version, revisions are versions that have been modified 24/7/52/365

2.0 have bugs like any and it was modified by normal developers.. its just a revision 'snapshot' of good build. newer rev like6020 is better than 2.0 in many case

New rev. test: all pal (netherlands) except sonic riders
Bleach Shattered Blade: seems to be slow.
Mario Kart Wii: runs 70% but used to run 90-100% in 51xx rev.
Muramasa: runs perfect.
Okami: can't start new game.
FFCC Crystal Bearers: lot of slowdown, music hangs, graphic distortion.
New Super Mario Bros.: sometimes speed 100% but is slow...
Pokémon Battle Revolution: doesn't utilize pc power fully. 70% at menu? wtf?
Pokémon Colosseum: Music hiccups.
Shadow The Hedgehog: slow 66% and graphical glitches .
Smash Bros. Brawl: runs almost perfect (result bug).
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle: 50-60% speed.
Sonic and the Black Knight: slow, doesn't use full power (66%).
Sonic Riders ZG at rev. 5997 it ran perfect.
Sonic Unleashed: movement stuck sometimes, runs slow on DX9, 'crashes' sometimes.
Super Mario Galaxy: runs very nice.
Super Mario Sunshine: runs very nice.
Melee: slowdown since last rev. but can still play 90% with 4 players.
Tatsunoko: graphical glitches but runs fine.
Wind Waker: perfect; except cutscene music glitched
Twilight Princess: Some places like Hyrule Field run slower than usual, some music (ending)
will not play.
Secret Rings: slowdown now and then.

General problem: cutscenes tested in Brawl, Sonic Adventure, ShadowTH run slow.

result: 'minor' music glitch, maximum slowdown: 60% -> plugins broken, cannot run all games.

Difference Dolphin 2.0 (r53xx): much slower, Mario Galaxy graphical glitch fixed, opencl
compensates for slowdown but still not optimal, wiimotenew plugin...that's it...
Only plus new rev get from me is wiimotenew plugin...lol (and netplay, though I don't use)
Keyword: Accuracy.

Bugs were fixed since the official 2.0 versions, specifically related to graphics such as the Luma's in SMG/SMG2. This is a good thing, it's better to have stable/accurate code than it is to have buggy/unstable hackish code that is prone to crashes, graphics issues, sound issues, and additional performance issues down the road. Just wait for the developers to optimize, it will be worth it in the end. First comes accuracy, then the developers will worry about optimization later.
so then if its so good whey am i getting shit frames? I get 35 frames at best in melee, which is 50% speed, and thats on smaller maps. sa2b runs at half speed on a lot of the latest revs. My system specs are much more than I should need as I see people run it on less.

Honestly, the 2.0 cannot be that much worse. WHat is all this accuracy talk? Every game looks and plays like its a real gamecube already. I have tried everything to make these games play like they do o the 2.0 candidate, and nothing. I'm confused of the point of so many reversions. Whats the point of accuracy when games wont run at full speed? Pal games use less frame rates, I use all NTSCU games.
I take it you didn't notice the transparent Luma's in SMG, graphical issues, sound issues and stability issues in some games? Accuracy means it will look and run more like it does on the real hardware, this is the only way to solve some issues with the emulator as hacks tend to be inefficient and buggy. I've yet to see emulation run any game 100% as it does on the real hardware, even the accurate and famed Bsnes emulator hasn't succeeded with this. However focusing on accuracy should solve most of the bugs and issues with the emulator with the side effect that it will temporarily reduce performance. Once most of the issues are ironed out, then the developers will focus on optimization and solving performance issues.

Technically you should be sticking to the official builds, development builds such as svn builds are exactly that, intended for development and testing purposes only and not to play games.

I don't play wii games on my pc, I have a soft mod wii already and it plays dvds and usb hdd. Its just GC games for me. What I cannot understand is how wii games, which should need more power, can run better than gamecube games.

I just found the frame skip option though, and it makes melee run 70% speed which feels like its running as fast as it should. I just was curious why as the emulator gets better, the performance decreases. I'm not trying to start a fight or anything. That only workson he 2.0 though. Everyone says get the latest reversion, and i get linked here.
It all depends on the game, the more there is to render or process the slower the game will go. Dolphin performance is bottlenecked by timing issues, core issues and other things that affect performance, made worse by recent issues being fixed. With time, the developers will optimize and fix most of these issues that affect performance, but their main focus is on accuracy and fixing current issues for right now.

Some areas ingame are prone to random slowdowns, speed will often fluctuate and vary from one playthrough to the next. You might want to double check your configuration, you can take a snapshot of your current configuration and post it as something does sound amiss with your configuration.

These are settings I use on all revs. They work amazing on 2.0, but about any other rev, i get a lot slower results. the resolution never changes the frame rate, no matter how big or small.
