ya, it was possible via FIFO exploit in rsx but since 2.1 is such an old firmware version (just a handful of people even have systems with non-updated fw:s going back that far since a lot of games after 2008 require at least ~2.3+ or more recently 3.15)
Quote:we are unable to make a 3D driver that can be executed from user space which is bad. Normally the GameOS uses the 3D object to render 3D graphics but in OtherOS this is blocked by the Hypervisor. According to GeoHot the GameOS encodes this class as 0x4067 + 0x30.

I'll stay forever at 3.15 though since it's not worth losing OtherOS over |

1) Take your home brew enabled Wii connected via HDMI.

2) Load up Wii-Linux and install dolphin on your Wii. (yes you can install Linux on Wii, quite a variety of builds.)

3) Set resolution to 1920x1080 in dolphin and play.

lmao install dolphin on wii... i think you need to go back to school dude
Interestingly enough though, if Nintendo wanted to, they COULD output 1080p on the wii since the component cables can deal with these resolutions (my xbox360 does output 1080p on component) but the wii's graphic card is probably not powerful enough to get a decent framerate anyways ... (And maybe the max resolution is hardcoded anyways)
There is always a way to make a game run in 1080p in Wii if the developers is so desire it. But would you play a psx quality graphic despite in HD?

I'd rather play it in Dolphin with at least ps2 level graphic+HD :p.

Just face it, Wii is NOT for 1080p material.
yeah, the EFB (a memory area which is the only place where the Wii's GPU can render 3D stuff to) is only 2 MB big, which isn't enough for 1900x1200 pixels.
EDIT: That means: HD resolutions fail not only because of the SLOW GPU, but even because the GPU can't even operate on that resolution.
To be honest the Wii is a lot more powerful than the PS2 Angel the gamecube already was (with the xbox being the most powerful of the previous gen systems)

Ohhh makes perfect sense ! Smile Thanks for the info !
And TBH, I found that on some games it look worse than ps2. Some devs are really clever in designing ps2 games, I'm particularly impressed with Level 5, Square Enix and Namco's games.

Totally agree with you hahaha, I picked up DQ8 recently and I love the looks of this game !
Even if the Wii was capable of outputting 1080p graphics, which it isn't, it wouldn't be able to because the maximum display resolution of the hardware is 480p. Upscaling won't work because it *gasp* doesn't have an upscaling chip.

Also that connector doesn't do jack except oversaturate the colors.
Well, we know it's not capable of it, but if it was capable, then it would be able to ... makes perfect sense doesn't it ? ;D
