I just went through the whole thing of downloading and installing Dolphin and the latest version of DirectX just to play Metroid Prime on my PC. Now, when I try to play the game, the window closes and I get a message saying that DEP (Data Execution Prevention) has closed the program because its using the memmory in a way it shouldn't. I already tried to disable DEP for Dolphin but the cursed thing (excuse my language) won't allow me, says that the program must be run with DEP.
Help I just dont know what to do.

What version of dolphin are you using, what game are you trying and what are your computer stats? Generally more information is needed to help you out.
What operating system are you using?

DEP is some sort of protection protocol that closes programs that are using the memory in ways they shouldn't (or so it says on the microsoft help)
The version of dolphin Im using is SVN R 4771. My computer has just enough to play dolphin, about 2 Gb of RAM and 2.5 GH AMD Turion Processor although Im not shure if this has a graphic card. In any case, it should be able to play with that, right?

Im using Windows Vista Home Basic. Maybe I should get XP...
you hav to hav a graphics card and for metroid prime you hav to have a high end graphics card...cuz it has awesome graphics

aw man... well, guess I'll have to stick to the Xbox until I get a decent graphics card

the problem is that I wanted the emulator specifically for the Zelda, Mario and Metroid series (pretty much the best of nintendo), which I really miss now that I have Xbox only. For average games I can just play Xbox360

That is the Dolphin works fine without a DEP exception, but the DolphinIL needs to run DEP. So I can't run DolphinIL, because of that annoying issue, but I can run the other one at least run it. I'll never know which one is faster because of thats stupid demand it only appears for Win Vista/7 users. I'm surprised after so many r5000+ versions that have been released I assume you wouldn't recommend us getting a newer version or beta version?
