I'm very new to the world of emulation. I always played the games of my GC but then I found this anyways this is the error i get when I load up a .iso

If that doesn't work, what dolphin version and what are your computer stats?

Followed the tut, got the same issue.

Also, the original error message said something about opengl, I don't want to run opengl and rather run the latest directx. Is there are way to manually switch between them?

Your Graphics card is crap. Go to Config > Plugins tab > In first dropdown select Direct3D9 > Close Config > Hit GFX button > Uncheck "EFB > CPU ACCESS" and u r good to go
Even if you get the emulator/dx9 running, your laptop can't run any games at above 30-50% speed, period.
There is no software solution to hardware problem. But there is a pc purchase guide at the top of game discussion

Metroid prime runs Fine at %98-100

maybe its less intensive
