Well, I think this is an stupid question, but here it goes
The FPS issues are fixed in the newest version of Dolphine? or I need to install patch or something. (Sorry for the question but I didn't want to read 30 pages of post xD)
Thanks in advance : )
Xtreme, I'm using tortoise svn, how can I apply the patch?
EDIT: Got it, I've used Apply Patch *facepalm*
this maybe my first post but i have been watching this thread for about 2 weeks now. the last post was 3 days ago. i really hate to see you guys stop working on this as i am very close to the end of TP. here are my PC specs just for fun. AMD Phenom X4 9550 6GB DDR2 SDRAM 1GB
ATI Radeon HD 4350 in dungeons i get about 25-30 fps. larger areas i get about 20-25 but in hyrule field i only get 12. i have read all 35 pages of this post and all you guys are doing a great job. dont give up now.
i am not a programmer, but i am a hardware specialist and a a zelda enthusiast who wants to finish this masterpiece of a game.
What the hell is wrong with this thread? It says that the last person who posted something is LSG_Batman, but I still see frango0010 post

nvm, it worked
Thanks
maybe that's a sign that i should just shut up and let the pros work it out before i break the forum lol.
although i think problems like that have been stated in previous postsin this topic. i could be wrong though.
Any updates or news regarding this issue that resulted from collaboration with other developers? It's been over a month now, it would be nice to finally see a proper fix for this issue and performance issues with other games.
Any information as to why this issue seems to be affecting a certain group or groups of Dolphin users, while some are unaffected by this issue?
I believe I can answer that question if I had more people willing to participate in the benchmarking project but between me and JADS our hardware selection is very limited. We've done all the testing that needed to be done (except the mutex test which never got finished) but haven't reached any conclusive answers, in fact it actually raised a lot more questions. We both stopped weeks ago but still visit the irc channel.
I have downloaded the patch but am unsure of how to install it any help would be great
Well I say lets just throw some theories out there and let's see which one is actually correct. In response to Xtra.KrazzY, I posted the following as a comment for
this commit.
Quote:@XTra.KrazzY, according to what I profiled upon request by skidau the issue with Hyrule Field appeared to be caused by the fifo or Fifo_EnterLoop function, profiling revealed Fifo_EnterLoop to be very intensive. Kiesel-Stein produced a different theory that the slowdown was caused by the texturing environment and rendering the world map. Kiesel posted a patch that modified bpstructs.cpp and offered a decent speedup in Hyrule Field, at the expense of graphical glitches in some games. Even with his patch, the slowest part of Hyrule Field ran at 20 FPS - 23 FPS, still not full speed.
I'm not a developer so I don't really know what the issue could be caused by. If I were to guess, I would guess that the Fifo or Fifo_EnterLoop function is hanging or constantly looping while trying to process the graphics/vertex data of that specific area. Could also be some weird bug with EFB in the Fifo code, I noticed that when transitioning to Hyrule Field the EFB offset/scale seems to shift. You can see what I'm referring to by entering Hyrule Field and the screen fades, it appears that the graphics are being offset when transitioning to Hyrule Field, haven't noticed this happening when transitioning to other areas in the game.
Another weird thing with Hyrule Field is that the fifo doesn't appear to be used anywhere else other than Hyrule Field in the game. After visiting any other part of Hyrule Field besides SouthWest Hyrule Field (GC), it appears to trigger the Fifo/Fifo_EnterLoop which causes massive slowdowns.
Another thing that should be looked at, is that some Dolphin users are unaffected by this issue. I remember Kiesel-Stein mentioning that most of the time was being spent in the Nvidia driver, so another possibility to consider is issues with Nvidia/ATI drivers and Dolphin.
Needs more testing on a wider range of hardware and configurations, not sure if there has been any collaboration between developers regarding this issue and any possible fixes on the horizon. Weird that there is some Dolphin users that are unaffected by this issue, while most have an issue with slowdowns in this specific area.
