Their are sites out their dedicated to archiving results of successful unlocks. If you know the batch number of the cpu you can look it up on these sites and immediately figure out with a 99% certainty whether the extra cores will unlock (by seeing if people with cpus from the same batch were able to unlock). It appears that all of the cpus that can't unlock are usually in the same batches, and vice versa.
