Are you using the latest Fedora? Have you tried the experimental open source Nvidia driver thats preinstalled? If so, how does it work?
yes i am but it will work for all versions over 10. yes i have tried it, IT SUCKS. use nvidia drivers
You must be a very patient man.. or I must be a very impatient one. I used ubuntu (a very user friendly version) but I kept coming across issues.. sound disappearing, wrong drivers, even installing emulators was a chore

I'm using windows 7 now, and for the most part, I can run everything pretty well

I'm emulating

a few atari systems (can't remember which), jaguar, lynx, nes, snes, gb, gba, nintendo ds, virtual boy, n64, gamecube, wii, game gear, genesis, sega mega drive, turbo grafx, dreamcast, saturn, atomiswave, naomi, sega m2, mame, etc etc

Yes, more than enough. Install 64-bit windows 7 for even further speed.

Or a 64-bit Linux Distro like Ubuntu.

The money that you would waste on Windows 7 could be used to get a top of the line quad core or an e8400. Dolphin can only use 2 cores at a time.

I installed a ton of emulators through Ubuntu's software center. It only takes one click of the mouse to install them doing it that way. Windows takes at least a couple clicks and alot of waiting.

Except dolphin is wwwaaayyy faster under windows than linux. Spending that money on windows 7 would actually net a much higher performance boost for dolphin than getting a higher end cpu believe it or not.

The linux svn build allows me to use their new wii mote plugin. Dolphins installed on one of my friend's Windows box and he doesn't have that plugin. On top of that his Dolphin emulator slows down some times. Nothing is perfect. but the Linux SVN build works for me and is more than playable. Don't judge it if you haven't actually installed it on your PC while running Linux natively.
