You need to make sure it is on its own core (but I'm assuming you have done this). Also it will still take some speed away, as the sound still has to sync with the rest of the game: you can't have the opening menu music the whole time.

Yeah lock to thread is on ( screen shot in my first post ) guessing Thread in this case is interchangeable with core, as I dont see another option for that. I would have thought to see some speed in the cpu but not %40 ?

Well with much work I have now taken my cpu to a stable 4.0 well under 55C at full load. All four cores are showing heavy usage during play and I can do just about anything in the game remaining at 100%. When I select the Low level sound engine and try running with that it's pulled down to %60. With a few Zelda tweaks I can get it up to %73 but that is all.
