EDIT: I have seen some videos on youtube with g3258 and it seems like an excellent CPU. But I can upgrade to an i5/i7 in the future if I wanted to right? Assuming the mobo is z97?

I don't like overclocking, it makes me feel unsafe. But I guess its either buy the i5 or buy pentium and overclock it, I guess I'll learn more about overclocking.

EDIT 2: Actually I'll just wait and buy parts individually until I have all the parts I need and then just assemble it. Going with the i5 with a cpu cooler posted in the original build.

Overclocking today has come a long way, as motherboards and CPUs are less prone to failing and having issues when over locking.
That new motherboard is fine.
The G3258 at 4.7 Ghz performs like an i5-4690K at 4.0 Ghz (NaturalViolence did the math at the bottom of this thread: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-looking-for-a-recommendation)

Just curious about the cooling method for g3258. I read online that the best recommended cpu cooler for when you overclock it is cooler master hyper 212 evo.

Would that cpu cooler combined with g3258 oc'ed work in the build you posted KHg8m3r?

Yes, the cooler master hyper 212 evo is one of the best.

As for the cooler I added, I was trying to keep the costs down while keeping good quality. It received good reviews.

As for the G3258 when overclocked, it can use the stock Intel cooler because it has a way lower thermal output than the i5/i7 CPUs that the Intel stock cooler was deigned for.

Are you talking about the cooler that the CPU comes with?

Also, since you said that overclocking is much advanced and better today in comparison to the past, I thought I might look at some barebone kits too.

I just realized that I don't play current or next-gen games, the only "latest" games I can remember playing are CoD4, Crossfire (F2P), and emulators like dolphin, snes, gba, etc.

Why I am still making a decision about this, is because I read online that the BitFenix cases are hard to work with if you're new to building computers. I have installed video cards, ram and such but I am not an expert in this field.

I mean the main thing that powers Dolphin is a dual-core setup with a nice amount of RAM and a good GPU, right?

Yes, the stock included Intel cooler.

That barebones kit is a full atx motherboard and case, and will find most if not all cards. Just so you know, it comes with a water cooler, which is different from an air cooler.

The bitFenix is "tricky" to work with only because it is small.

Any newer GPU that can handle 1x IR will be fine. It's upscaling that takes the toll.

They're legoes with electricity flowing through them. You have to be borderline clinically retarded to not be able to put together a modern desktop PC. They've idiot proofed everything over the years. You'll be fine.

Per core cpu performance is the main performance factor for dolphin.

GPU Iris Pro 5200 w/128MB eDRAM
Intel Core i7 4770R (quad-core, 3.2 GHz) (Turbo up to 3.9 GHz)
8GB DDR3 1600 MHz
DirectX DirectX 11.2 (feature level 11_0)
OpenGL OpenGL 4.4
HDD Samsung Evo 840

I don't have this set up yet (got a defective power supply) i am just wondering how well this will run Gamecube games.

That should run Dolphin very well for most games. You should be able to do 2x-3x Internal Resolution easily with the Iris Pro 5200 (even 4x IR depending on the game). If you have a specific list of games you want to play (because GC games can range from easy to hellishly hard to emulate) we can give you more specific details. Be sure to use the latest development Dolphin revisions.
