Uhm... so i'm currently at Dragon roost island inside the cave in the room which you enter through the mouth and I have to change direction while using the grappling hook. But even if I stop while in the middle of swinging I can't seem to change directions. Does anyone know if this is a bug and what I can do to correct it. Since I can't get past that spot unless I change directions. I have tried holding R and then using D-pad to move but that doesn't work.

The controls in the game for that are that you hold R and use the left stick to turn. If that's what you're doing, could it have something to do with your keyboard or any malfunctioning keys?

Don't you have to stop swinging first, then change the direction and start the swing again?
Check my profile for up to date specs.
