Zelda twilight princess, cant fish!

It's a kind of an in-game question so only thouse who played the game till that particular part will know the answer, i've played zelda twilight princess, and i need to get the cat to someone, but how do i get cats? with fish ofcourse! so i throw my fishing hook inside, i've watched a tutorial video on youtube and it says that after your hook is thrown in, it will go down sometimes, at that time, you need to pull your wiimote up, so i guess i need to pull my mouse up but that doesen't do anything, is this a dead end?
