I was experimenting a bit with preferences hacks etc.
The only thing the game speeded up were the options "Dual Core", "Idle Skipping", "Optimize Quantizers" and selecting the D3D Plugin. But making changes in the D3D Plugin doesn't influence the performance. I'm running the game with ~ 18 FPS in the Palace of Twilight using 640x480, no AF or AA. Same place, same FPS with 1920x1200 and 16xQCSAA, although the CPU workload is ~ 60 %. Using the 64 bit version instead of the 32 bit one causes even more slowdowns for me...
