Zelda Skyward Sword - Real Controls

Quote:yes the game calibrates realtime via sensorbarWhat is all this talk about the sensor bar? SS does not use the sensor bar but once ( in the main start up screens ). Once you are in the game it uses the motion plus to mouse the cursor around. You can prove that by blocking the IR path with an object. This is also the reason it asks you to press down to calibrate it. main page Working controllers (02-18-2012, 12:27 AM)ulao Wrote:Quote:yes the game calibrates realtime via sensorbarWhat is all this talk about the sensor bar? I'm pretty sure it uses both the IR and the gyro data and mixes them together, based on whatever seems more accurate. If you just use the gyro data, the cursor will quickly desync because the gyroscope doesn't provide any absolute values.
for me is does de-sync and I have to hit down, though not that often. It may do something with it, but I can play ss ( once in game ) without a wii bar at all. I know this because my first wii-bar ( junk ) never worked but playing ss required me to use mouse emulation till I passed the menus. At that point I could play the game with no issues at all. I then removed the bar all together since that was the only game I was playing. When I got my new bar I was hoping for a change but there was none.

@ulao
with Sensorbar you dont have to press down at all, thats why its there. without the sensorbar (aka 2 light candles) the Wiimote cant know where the screen is (and thats why you have to keep pressing down). my sensorbar works perfectly for re-calibrating but my general problem is that my Wiimote gets decalibrated too fast/too often when playing on Dolphin. And Im still not sure if this is just my problem or if this is the standard for Dolphin. You only read: "Wow SS works 100% on my computer, 30 fps all time..." whereas I nowhere read ppl really comparing the game on Dolphin vs Wii. And Im talking about the controls, not the graphics... 02-19-2012, 11:05 AM
Markan90, I see what you mean. So when you press down it looks at the sensor to mark where the wii-mote is. My argument was more so to this
"I'm pretty sure it uses both the IR and the gyro data and mixes them together" That is just not the case. At least no the way I read that sentence. main page Working controllers 02-20-2012, 10:35 AM

I'm not entirely sure, that's just my impression of how it might work. 02-21-2012, 10:32 AM
That is how its documented elsewhere online. I would agree, that is how it works.

Just got everything set up to play this, first Dolphin game so i'm still fooling around with settings and such, but everything seems to be working pretty well.
Using a 1-P TR & 1-P Nunchuck with a Toshiba Stack. I'm also using this bluetooth dongle and this sensor bar. The Dolphin version is the TR-edited one. The only issue i'm having is sensitivity. I'm practicing on the logs and i'm finding it difficult, if not impossible to reproduce any successful movements. I've tried large sword swings and short, quick wrist movements. Feels like i'm really just getting lucky when I destroy a log. |
