I'm making this thread because I couldn't find any other like it.
The game's main thread doesn't say anything about an emulated controller thread, only about a real controller one (Which you can find in this section) and another one for emulated wii motion plus discussion.
Now I dont want to spam the emulated WM+ thread with info specific for this game, and I also think that this subject should have it's own thread, since it can get very extent, and if discussed in the WM+ it could get really disorganized and finding things could become very hard.
If a mod finds this thread useful: Please make it a sticky.
OK first of all You'll need a build that supports emulated WM+.
As far as I know: the official build doesn't emulate the wii motion plus (Correct me if im wrong please) so i'll post what in my honest opinion is the best build for this game that also supports emulated wm+
Build for x64 (2011-12-08)
Build for x86 (2011-12-08)
If someone wants to post alternative builds, feel free to do so, if they are good i'll edit the OP and add them.
OK now the config that I use is for a 360 CONTROLLER. this game works really bad with a Mouse and Keyboard (However it IS playable, just that it's an extremely inferior experience)
So while this thread is to discuss emulated controls as a whole, I'll be favoring the 360 controller scheme which actually works pretty good. I will still post a decent keyboard and mouse configuration for those who dont have any controller, but you'll have to configure it manually as I dont have a profile for it and right now I dont have access to my main PC so I cant use dolphin for the moment.
The controller profile i'm gonna give you is considered the best for this game
360 controller profile
Video of the profile in action
NOTE: I didn't created that controller profile, credit goes to the owner of that video.
Another interesting note: It's possible to use this profile with a PS3 controller, I personally use a PS3 controller because I dont have a 360 one, you can google for a program called "motionjoy" that allows you to use a PS3 controller with a PC (without the need of a bluetooth adapter). this program even allows you to emulate a 360 controller with that PS3 controller! (you actually need to do this since the profile will give you issues if you try to use the DS3 as a regular gamepad instead of a 360 controller)
OK now download the profile and put it in (your dolphin folder)/User/config/profiles/wiimote
If you dont see the profiles/wiimote folders: you can create them manually, (alternatively you can go to the wiimote configuration and just type a random name on the blank space saying "profile" then click save, this creates the folder, put the profile I gave you there.)
Now go to the wiimote configuration screen on dolphin, and hit the arrow next to that blank space, the profile "Zelda skyward sword 360" should be there, select it, then click LOAD (make sure the input mode on the left of the screen is set on gamepad instead of mouse and keyboard)
Now we have to do one minor adjustment with the button mapping...
See the column that says "Rotate"?
This is how it looks
Very important
The 4th column, now go directly to that button that says FAST
this is the MODIFIER and it's completely vital for the controller scheme to work, it let's the emulator know when you want to make a rapid movement instead of a very slow one (which is the default) in other words without the modifier key you cant even make sword slashes.
So bind a button to this, if you cant make dolphin detect your input then just right-click on "fast" (or any other button you want to map), now a new window should open, make sure the input method in this window is again set in gamepad, now after that hit DETECT and hit the desired key, after it's detected hit SELECT and then OK and done! the key is mapped.
I personally have the modifier key and the Z button mapped to the same Button (L1 in my case because L2 in the PS3 controller is very uncomfortable to press for long times, but on the 360 controller im sure most of you guys will go for the left trigger as Z button) I do this to avoid having to press 2 buttons to attack, also I noticed that some of the inputs have issues if you have the modifier on another key (the killing blow for example couldn't be performed if the Z button and modifier were mapped to different keys)
NOTE: It's best to have modifier and Z button mapped to different keys ONLY for the bird race and some specific parts of the game that involve minigames and not combat, because in these minigames pressing the Z button often changes the camera angle and makes it very hard to control. After these sections you can map them to a same button again to make combat more comfortable.
Controller scheme
Left is the name of the original wiimote/nunchuck button and right is the name of the button in the 360 controller.
This is the default scheme of the profile, I dont recommend you to change the bindings if you are a casual user as it might give you serious issues with the controller, if you know what you are doing (and that goes beyond knowing how to map keys) then feel free to do it
A button- A button
B button- Right trigger
1 button- Y button
2 button- B button
- button- Back
+ button- Start
Dpad Down (used for centering the camera and other contextual actions)- X button
C button- LB button
Z button- Left trigger
DPAD- I suggest you to map the dpad to the KEYBOARD, since the game doesn't use these keys for combat and they are just to access commands that aren't time demanding. in the 360 profile the dpad (of the 360 controller) is used to tilt the wii mote. Note that the Dpad down (wiimote) key is already mapped to the X button in the 360 controller, you should leave this bind intact, as this is the most useful directional button and you'll need fast access to it in some parts
Shake nunchuck- L3 button (L3 is the button in the left analog stick, just "push" the analog stick, you'll hear a click sound on the controller)
Shake wiimote- R3 button (Same as above but on right analog)
Remember to map the modifier to the Z button (left trigger) this is not necessary but it's highly recommended.

Actions tutorial
A small note: actions that have "unaffected by modifier" at the end are actions that can be performed with or without hitting the modifier button.
Another note: When I say "hit the modifier" I mean press it and KEEP IT PRESSED, the modifier is NOT a toggle button, you need to keep it pressed for it to have effect.
Sword slashes:
Hit the MODIFIER (fast) button and KEEP IT PRESSED, (think of it as the safety of a gun, if it's off the gun wont fire) and then move the right analog stick to the desired direction to make a sword slash.
Note: the slash direction might confuse you a bit at the beginning since it seems to be inverted, this is normal and you'll get used to it very fast.
Thrust attack: Hit the R3 button (unaffected by modifier)
Vertical spin strike: hit L3 and R3 while moving the right analog stick up or down AT THE SAME TIME, it's kind of hard to do it first but you'll get the hang of it.- Unaffected by modifier
Horizontal spin strike: Hit the modifier and Rotate the left analog stick counter-clockwise and the right one clockwise AT THE SAME TIME (you dont need to hit the modifier and do the circles at the same time, just make sure the modifier is being held before making the circles) do the circles fast, if you take your time to do them, it wont read the move.
If you are having trouble with that motion, try to do it by pressing modifier, l3 and R3 while you move the right analogue stick horizontally at the same time.
Skyward strike: Press the UP button in the dpad so that link puts the sword up, keep it pressed and then hit modifier and move the right stick in any direction.
Shield block: L3 button, unnafected by modifier.
Finishing blow: Left trigger to target on enemy, then hit L3 and R3 at the same time (dont move the right analog stick)
Throwing items you are holding (barrels and such) Press dpad up (keep it pressed), modifier key and move the right analog stick.
Rolling items you are holding: same as above, except you need to press dpad down instead of up.
leap (while hanging from ledges): hit R3
rolling: hit L3 while dashing
jump up while climbing: R3 button.
Taking out the goddess sword: Press Dpad down to enter the "ready" stance, after this press A, after pressing A you can let go of the dpad down (and you need to do it) then just hit modifier and press dpad down again (while holding A)
Bird controls:
Use the dpad to move the bird, buttons are mapped correctly, (pressing the dpad up will make the bird go up, pressing it left will make her go left and such).
Hit the modifier and move the right analogue stick up to make the bird go up, move it down to make it go down, you cant steer the bird with the right analogue stick so dont try it.
Tight rope controls:
While advancing through the tightrope, hit the modifier button, balance by moving the right analog stick left or right (depending on which side link is falling to obviously), move the right analog stick back and forth (or viceversa) to justle (shake the rope) and thus drop any obstacles that lay ahead.
Rope swinging controls:
Hit the modifier button and move the analog stick back and forth to balance.
Slingshot/arrow controls:
These are very problematic, im gonna see if I can find a solution for them but I cant guarantee it.
While aiming move the right analog stick to move the aim a bit, however this only moves in a very limited space, to move the aim further you have to hit the dpad in the desired direction, but doing this moves the aim very fast and the movement can only be negated by pressing the opposite dpad button (ie if you hit the up button the aim will go up very fast and you will only be able to stop it by pressing the down button, which in turn will make the aim go down very fast and again you'll have to negate it with the up button) If you have good reflexes you'll be able to hit the A button while the aim is going through your target.
If you have problems with it, I suggest getting very close to the target with the slingshot (below the target if possible, since the slingshot is oftenly used to drop vines) and hitting Dpad Up so that the aim stops right in the target.
If you are using the bow you can do the opposite: get far away from the target so that the target is in the range of the "limited aim" (the one used with the right analogue stick).
Remember that you can hit enemies or certain targets without the need to aim, if the target can be locked on with Z-targetting then you can just shoot a projectile without needing to aim manually.
I'll post more actions as time goes by.
