Just a quick heads-up for what is coming next for the project.
I have been searching and studying for a while how to mimic a consistent art-style for the text textures (menu, items, bosses, locations, masks, etc) for UHD. The idea is for Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask to have the same art-style in textures. This has been bothering me for a while. Nerrel was so friendly to point out to me his method for the text textures in Majora's Mask, so I will be trying to redraw Ocarina's text textures and the remainder (PAL for example) in a similarly fashion for a consistent art-style. Of course the intention is to redraw using a font-style true to that of the game itself. I haven't really been satisfied by my own latest contributions regarding text textures, so this proves to be a great opportunity to improve myself and iterate. More on this later. Hopefully to be part of V2.6, together with Snowhead Temple. UPDATE 1: Interested in an example? I included one below. For now I will be focusing on redoing the English language for Ocarina of Time to be on par with Majora's Mask. In addition I have replaced even more of the File Menu with Nerrel's textures therefore. I might consider redoing the French and German File Menu languages in a later update (only the File menu, the rest would be insane for me). Luckily we have already CyberConan taking care of the Spanish language. UPATE 2: More news. The English text folder are having another organization overhaul, just because I can. Other languages remain untouched in their organization. Anyway a lot and a lot more text got replaced with Nerrel's textures (both Ocarina and Majora to make it more complete and consistent). The goal is to a) wait for Nerrel to continue his work and release more text textures for the stuff that is coming next and b) redraw the text textures for Ocarina of Time myself to be consistent to Nerrel's textures. A few text textures have been already reworked. A lot is still missing so far and will be tacked in the upcoming days. For example, Blue Fire, Water Temple, Fire Temple, Fairy Bow, Hookshot, Fairy Ocarina and Ocarina of Time now follow's Nerrel's style. Why? Because by comparison Nerrel's style looks almost exactly as the original art-style. Ocarina's Community Retexture Pack's text textures weren't exactly true to the original art-style. Of course I had to learn and find the proper font techniques to achieve similar results to the original art-style. So far it proves to be interesting. Another example can be found attached if interested in the progress.

New versions of the textures in Spanish:
Z-OOT-Spanish-PNG-v0.99.zip Z-MM-Spanish-PNG-v0.50.zip OOT only includes some text actions that I forgot in the previous version and MM has all the text I redrawn until the middle of the game. Edit: About the textures with an odd size, yes, its loading in dolphin for linux when resized to any even size.

As usual, I add them into the next update to be part of the core and mod pack. I will scale the logo textures to an size that can be properly divided then. An image size of 3724x207 isn't exactly dividable. So if an image size of 3744x208 works fine, why not. 12-04-2018, 10:24 PM
Sooooo yeah... My plans for V2.6. But first...
I finally started my own Discord channel and Patreon page. If you're interested you can find the link in my signature. Anyway, my plans for V2.6. Since Nerrel has finally finished Snowhead Temple and and the whole of Snowhead it is my cue to pick up the pace as well. In addition as mentioned previously I am redoing most of the fonts for Ocarina of Time by hand myself to match with the original style as well (which Nerrel already perfectly mimics). TODO List Code: - Redoing Snowhead Temple I start posting screenshots as soon I get sufficient progress done in Snowhead Temple. I should also try to make more video's eventually. When I see them I feel that my heart becomes small, it is a feeling of apprehension. As always, a great job done by Nerrel. And thanks to you, Admentus, for making the port to Dolphin. About the size of the buttons, are the words and icons the normal size? or Did Nerrel resize them according to the small size of the buttons? Because the size of the words and icons seem a little small to me. |
