The texture pack works fine with PAL versions. But that's about it. Any kind of improvements to the game itself require the NTSC-U version (thus support for AR, Gecko and Patcher64+ is limited).

That is of course, should someone be willing to invest their time and dedication to make a fan localization (or port one) to the Rev 0 NTSC-U version.

Admentus - any chance the NES version on the collector's edition could get a pack that supports Zelda: Remastered ?

No, Mesen allows more than just a sprite change. You'd have to effectively replace the emulator in the collector's addition with Mesen which is impossible

I realize it's more than just sprite work. But two things:

1) I'd be ok with just the sprite changes.
2) Admentus has been able to port hacks over before.

That's why I ask.

Why not just play it in Mesen?

Its way more than just a hack, it requires the functionality of Mesen itself. Doing all that work to get the same features wouldn't be any different than just using Mesen, you're already using an emulator (Dolphin) as-is

After reading a bit of Mesen's documentation I realize maybe my original question was a bit silly. While Dolphin provides texture replacement which makes it easier to port over Project64's packs, the 2d tilesets are a much different beast. In my excitement of seeing the pack, I didn't think of the technical details.

I do tend to prefer Dolphin (both as a developer and user) over other emulators due to its rich set of features but most of that applies to 3d games, not 2d. So Kat is right, even if Dolphin provided some way to do it, there's little reason to go through the trouble.

Fair point. However, I don't own a NES rom. I sold my NES a few years ago.

I own the Collector's edition though! Maybe there's a way to extract it?

Honestly, I didn't have much interest in playing it but saw the video and wondered if it'd be brought over. I realize now that was a bit foolish.

You can extract them fine I believe, but they're in a weird format and size (TGC and 1.6MB) so idk where you'd go from there

From what I saw you need PRG0 or whatever for the hack to work (since it needs a patch)

Hmm... The Zelda 1 NES ROM is located within the main.dol. So you should use something like HxD to extract the bytes and store them in a new .nes file.

The ROM starts at 0x5D2E0 and ends at 0x7D2EF, so the total length should be about 0x20010. Well... That is assuming the offsets for the US version. It's probably not a PRG0 ROM. Nintendo pretty much adjusted everything for the Collector's Edition.

I've been playing MM (VC) on the latest build of Dolphin on mac with the latest texture pack and things were going (mostly) great until I tried to enter the pirate fortress. As soon as I enter the underwater portal it crashes to the desktop. Disabling the texture pack seems to be the only way to fix it. If I try to reenable it, it crashes again. I only signed up to this forum for help with this specific issue. I'm not seeing it listed elsewhere and I have no idea what other info will be needed to help trouble shoot. I'm a total noob, I know but I follow instructions really well so if someone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it greatly..
