Oh, no worries at all. I just was kind of curious is all, and was sort of holding on V3.0 just in case it offered more graphical enhancements. But, by the sound of things, it sounds like the newer package is the version to go with. I haven't really played with it yet, so I wouldn't be able to speak to the difference. I'm just glad I know how all this works now, that I already the codes in place, my profile saved, and "GameSettings" ready to go. It made the update refreshingly simplistic!

Nah, I don't really go any downgrading with any of my texture pack updates. That would defeat the purpose of making a new update. Unless of course I forgot something, in which case you should feel free to point it out so that it gets included within the next update again. As for V3.3, the focus would be Ikana Canyon (hopefully for real this time) and the textures that were changed or added from using the N64 Restoration patches. One thing that was throwing me off was where to place the files since I had made Dolphin portable. I was originally placing the files in the default directory in documents where they are located by Default: C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Dolphin Emulator\Load\Textures Since I had made Dolphin portable, I finally found success by placing the files in my "Dolphin" directory where my installation files are housed instead of the "Dolphin Emulator" directory located in documents: For me, it was located here. H:\Emulators\Dolphin\Dolphin 5.0_10758\User\Load\Textures I don't recall if I had to create the "User" folder inside of the directory, or if it was there by default after making the emulator portable. Regardless, if it is portable, and you don't see it there, you would want to add the necessary folders: User\Load\Textures Hope that helps. 09-08-2019, 05:44 AM

Out of curiosity, are these upscaled backgrounds also applied to Majora's Mask? 09-08-2019, 06:08 AM

I would have gone insane otherwise. Unlike Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask almost doesn't make use of background at all. There are just only 94 background textures that defines two skyboxes (day & night). That's it. Every indoor area is actually fully rendered. As well as every outdoor area. And since there are no backgrounds except for two skyboxes there is no need to upscale them.
My plans for the next update, it's going to be a big one:
- Ikana Canyon (yes, it's finally happening) - English font textures for Ocarina of Time are being remade once more for more consistency with Majora's Mask - Font textures in German, French, Spanish and Japanese for Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask - N64 Restoration Patch textures for both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask And some other minor stuff as well. With thanks to GhostlyDark for his amazing contributions for all the fonts (in each language).
This is pretty interesting. While working on the next texture pack update, a new Ocarina of Time romhack called Dawn & Dusk was released. You need a own legal copy of Ocarina of Time and patch it of course. The easiest way is to extract the rom from your legally obtained Virtual Console version of Ocarina of Time.
Of course, it aims for N64 emulators such as PJ64... But... It turns out it boots on Dolphin as well. Proof Dawn & Dusk: As to how complete-able it is... I don't know. Saving works at the very least. If the whole rom hack actually works, I might consider extending the texture pack for Dawn & Dusk as well. This leaves me to wonder if the rom hack uses the 8MB Expansion Pack? Or... It wouldn't boot? EDIT 1: I can confirm it's beatable on Dolphin, without any noticeable bugs. The only graphical bug I encountered was that trees show their transparent outline through walls. EDIT 2: It works when injecting it into the Virtual Console as well. Pick your choice. EDIT 3: It might be interesting to code some AR stuff on the long term. Cool stuff, would be really nice to play this with high res textures! Yeah, I definitely would like to do that since it works so well on Dolphin, as well as porting some of the AR Codes from the regular OoT. Buuuuuut... Not for the foreseeable future just yet. The texture pack and AR Coding for Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask will need to be concluded first, or at least close to. Certainty not the next texture pack update. Majora's Mask is definitely coming to it's end, so it might start faster than expected. In any case, I expect that modifying the Collector's Edition would be the easiest to work with, so that would likely be the version to focus on. Just so you know, Kaze is also working on a rom hack called The Missing Link. Kaze confirmed it will be using the 8MB Expansion Pack, so it won't work on the Collector's Edition. There are methods however to patch 8MB Expansion Pack support for the Virtual Console version of OoT. This might be quite interesting. If Kaze's upcoming rom hack works on Dolphin as well then that would be even better. 09-24-2019, 05:16 AM

I actually found the trailer for Kaze's Missing Link a week ago maybe, that also looks good, hopefully it'll work with dolphin somehow later on! |
