Shouldn't take long before all backgrounds have been concluded. If I am correctly, there's only the Goron and Zora Shops left to rework.

Time to wrap this all up:

Download links on the main page are being updated to V3.2: Backgrounds Edition.
Thanks Bighead. It wouldn't have been possible without you. Code: --- V3.2 (Backgrounds Edition) --- As usual, if there are any issues or things I might have missed. Let me know and I'll fix it.
Glad I could help. And like I said before, thank you for all the testing, suggestions, and helpful bug reports.
Edit: I've been playing with the new version and I gotta say, it's quite the improvement! I'm glad to see our hard work paid off. 08-24-2019, 11:20 PM
Just tried it out, and the backgrounds do look way better, thanks a lot guys!
If there is any feedback on how to further improve those backgrounds I'm open to it. Now that I have sorted out all textures into the proper folders and .CTT files (meaning I won't have to assemble them again) it should go much and much faster to redo some of them. If anyone is interested in the assembled .CTT files for experimentation, let me know.
Anyway, that has been on my task list for quite some time, which I finally get to go through with. Nevertheless it was still annoying and tedious, but at least it was tolerable. I think I would have gotten insane without the massive help from Bighead. As I have mentioned elsewhere, I like to apply the same techniques once more to those backgrounds from my Super Mario 64 pack. Yes, nothing but perfection for gaming. And I mean it. Buuuut. First I wanted to make a video showcasing all these backgrounds of Ocarina of Time. It's going to take a while, and I am in no particular rush through, but that would be my next priority. Right after I have beaten the first Trails of Cold Steel again. Final chapter, and I cranked up the difficulty this time... So... Yeah... That video will have to wait for a short while. As well Super Mario 64. After all that? Ikana Canyon of course, once Nerrel is done with that. Working on Ikana Canyon would take priority of course. And if I or anyone else happen to find some improvements through AR Codes, sure why not. 09-02-2019, 01:32 AM
Can some please help me with these textures, been at it for 4 hours now with no results at all.
I have updated to the latest dolphin build. I have the PAL and NTSC version of Collectors edition. I have downloaded and placed the texture pack into my load/texture folder from here a few times, and also tried a few different links from Youtube guides. Selected all the things that need to be selected in Dolphin to make texture packs work. Changed the name of the texture pack folders to match the Game ID. Have the widescreen hack working and my own personal settings in dolphin working fine but no new textures at all. I just dont get it. Other texture packs work fine but this just does not want to work at all (having same problem with the MMDDHD pack) Could someone please advise me on something to get this working please. Thank you! So the usual suspects have been checked it seems. - GameID folder (PZL) - Texture pack folder location (/load/textures) - Latest dev build (5.0-10892) - Latest texture pack download (V3.2) - Enable Custom Textures Are you using the DDS BC7 or PNG pack? You do have a NVidia GTX 1070, so that would work with DDS BC7 textures. What's the size of the downloaded texture pack? Should be about 3.72 GB for the DDS BC7 pack, containing 17.899 textures. 09-06-2019, 07:26 PM

Hi Admentus, I would looking over your change log and was curious about the decision to remove the separable backgrounds. I know that on version 3.0 I had upscaled the background x 4 I believe. I was curious with going this direction if it the new version was an overall improvement in graphics? (09-06-2019, 07:26 PM)deejus679 Wrote: Hi Admentus, Hmm? I am not sure what you mean. The texture pack used to have the non-HD backgrounds being upscaled with Point, with the option to choose between 2x and 16x. These upscales weren't that great actually. Far from it. The biggest issue was were the seams that would occur with anything other than using a Point upscale. The only way to solve the seams were to manually combine all background textures into a single texture, upscale that texture and then split it again. This would have been an incredibly tedious process to go through, if it were not for Bighead's assistance. Whole months just took mere days. I almost would have gone insane when trying to do it all by myself. All backgrounds which did not have HD textures are now being properly upscaled since V3.2. Since the process worked so well this time and gave really great results I removed the previous upscaled backgrounds and included the newer upscaled backgrounds as part of the Main Pack. You don't need to download a separate texture pack for having upscaled backgrounds anymore. Did you prefer the older upscaled backgrounds actually? I am not really planning on bringing those back. They are quite dated and have some issues. The older upscaled backgrounds were never converted into DDS BC7 textures since the RAM requirement for those was getting out of control. If you rather don't want the upscaled backgrounds at all, you can remove those from the Backgrounds folder. |
