I'm not on mine right now since i'm swapping the i7 3770 for an i5 3750k, but I'm currently kicking myself since this has to be the worst upgrade I've ever done lol.

I ended up losing a bit (in total) instead of saving money by selling the i7 (because I couldn't return it), sending back the heat sink I bought, and buying the i5 since I paid a lot in total to send one part back and mail the other; due to shipping...etc. The idea was to sell it for close to the price I paid and then buy the i5. Then there is the issue I'm having with the USB ports on the motherboard, which is more of a micro atx board than an atx board...

What I should of done:
Do a little more research on what I was buying and buy an i5 3750k since I wanted an Ivy bridge, and then use the extra ~$70 or less to buy a better motherboard.

What I did: Jumped the gun, skimped out on the motherboard, bought a heat sink that was suppose to be compatible with my board, but didn't fit and bought the i7 3770.

Meh!

Edit: Got the i5 installed and everything is running fine. I of course get the same performance as I did with the i7 (although, I lost .1 in windows performance test Undecided

) in dolphin since I haven't overclocked, yet. Figured out the usb issue to! Big Grin

Zelda: SS runs at full speed, most if not all the time.
Mario Galaxy 2: Runs at 54-60 with the occasional slow down. (this was with LLE turned on)

Other games either get full speed or a little slow down @ stock speeds.

so in general, if i can run metroid prime decently, will there be other games i could have problems with? are there a few games on gamecube which need more performance than metroid?

besides that, i heard that wii has the same power like gamecube, but i think i could get problems with twilight princess e.g., because i think twilight princess on wii needs more performance than metroid on gamecube nevertheless`

@shonumi an other time: so if u can play metroid prime with unclocked 2500k decently, and i can run it decently too or even a bit better with my cpu wiht a little oc, my cpu isnt that bad for dolphin.

Actually, Metroid Prime isn't CPU demanding either

@ESChinski Well, the only reason I brought up MP was due to the fact that it's the most demanding game that I've tried so far, not the most demanding one period. I've only played a handful of my GC collection on Dolphin, I haven't even tried F-Zero GX or the SMG games or Xenoblade. As admin89 pointed out, there are a number of more demanding games out there.

For MP, are you testing it with the LLE recompiler set in your DSP settings? Or are you still using HLE? For me it runs 50~60 FPS on HLE (full-speed most of the time, infrequent dips), but the audio cuts out in certain parts. Otherwise, it's perfect. LLE audio is more demanding than HLE, but it's far more accurate. If you're not using LLE, try it on MP and a couple of games.

So far my Acer Aspire 5742 color (red) with Intel i3 and Intel HD graphics 4gb ddr3 ram 2.4ghz Dual Core (refurbished laptop) is bouncing on several ends as far as games go. Elder Scrolls Skyrim clocks at 30-40 fps, PCSX2 20-40 fps on FFXII, and Dolphin 3.0 no revision several games at 15-40 fps. That is how mine is going. Intel HD 3000 is a rather powerful chipset compared to several others at least.

Are you sure you're talking about the IGP HD3000, because it's horrible.

By "several others", perhaps that was aimed at almost every other Intel IGP before it? Big Grin
