The source that gave me the macbook doesn't allow for emulators to be used due to torrent sites and the like being used to get the games. I rip my games from my wii to a usb however.

and helios, there is no need for insults, we are all mature here.

I don't know if they just don't trust you or if you haven't explained it very clearly, but maybe you should clarify that you indeed rip the games yourself so that you can stop worrying about it. In any case it's not very good PR for emulators to always be linked to illegal torrents in peoples minds.

Here's the thing. Most of us really don't care where you get your games. We don't. There are better things worth thinking about. What we do care about is correct hashes, which is a cause of a lot of problems. Most downloaded games have incorrect hashes, and therefore have people coming on the forums moaning about problems we cannot produce because their game rip is crap. Getting your games ripped properly eliminates this.

Additionally, it goes without saying but talking about piracy is a legal maelstrom nobody wants to deal with. Especially because the laws are different in various countries and the internet just complicates this. So it's easier to just ban the weirdos who talk about pirating games and help the people who have correct hashes and keep their mouths shut.

nobody cares if you lie, nobody cares where you get your games. Just keep quiet about piracy in any shape or form, have proper MD5 hashes, and you're good.

Its not that, its the fact that my school banned dolphin. I have no control over them, they seriously think that Ninty/Sony/Sega will waste their time and sue the hell out of my school system.

I get that completely, but what I meant is that it really is technically our job as the users and/or devs to spread a good message about the products we use, especially if they are as well and lovingly put together as Dolphin is. Emulation still has a (partially deserved) reputation of being a pirate's playing ground, where everything is free and the original developers suffer. It is only by the presentable users and big projects like Dolphin setting a strict (although impossible to enforce) ban on piracy that the general public's opinion can be changed. That is exactly what we can all do by ripping the games ourselves and encouraging friends and strangers alike to do the same.

Buy a new hard drive to do a fresh install of OSX.
When you have to give your computer back, just put the old drive back in.

Then backup the drive and do a fresh install of OSX. When you have to return the computer, just reinstall the backup
