So I've run into this one for ages with Dolphin going back at least 6 years or more. I think I had it solved ONCE, but am unsure what the actual fix is especially running into it again now on a completely clean install of the latest dev build.
My profile here has all of my specs, running 5.0-15260. The primary game being attempted is Dokapon Kingdom. This is a Wii game but supports Gamecube controllers which are the controls of choice for my friends and I. But it will not allow running without a Wii Remote connected. It'll just say straight away when booting the game that there's no Wii Remote connected and cannot be bypassed.
As noted above, this is on a clean install of Dolphin with the portable.txt file added in. Only changes I've made are disabling Dual core operation (this seemed to be needed for Dokapon for me especially trying to run it via Netplay which is the ultimate goal here) and tweaks to rendering resolution and other tweaks like MSAA and such. Wii Remote is emulated and is on stock mapping. I've even toggled the 'Sideways' option just in case but no improvement. The continuous scanning toggle was already off. Gamecube controller is emulated and mapped to my Xbox One controller.
Seems like all the search results that come up regarding this error have 'solutions' which have done nothing for me. Already running a clean install and config, on the latest dev version of Dolphin which supposedly had a fix implemented for this? I can't disable the Wii Remote. I can potentially grab an old physical Wii Remote and pair it up but not sure if that'd even help or if it'd simply be a bandaid.
I'm willing to try any suggestions here and can provide as much info about my current setup as you'd like. I'd just like to get this issue finally tackled after running into it with no solid solutions for years.
