So I've run into this one for ages with Dolphin going back at least 6 years or more. I think I had it solved ONCE, but am unsure what the actual fix is especially running into it again now on a completely clean install of the latest dev build.

My profile here has all of my specs, running 5.0-15260. The primary game being attempted is Dokapon Kingdom. This is a Wii game but supports Gamecube controllers which are the controls of choice for my friends and I. But it will not allow running without a Wii Remote connected. It'll just say straight away when booting the game that there's no Wii Remote connected and cannot be bypassed.

As noted above, this is on a clean install of Dolphin with the portable.txt file added in. Only changes I've made are disabling Dual core operation (this seemed to be needed for Dokapon for me especially trying to run it via Netplay which is the ultimate goal here) and tweaks to rendering resolution and other tweaks like MSAA and such. Wii Remote is emulated and is on stock mapping. I've even toggled the 'Sideways' option just in case but no improvement. The continuous scanning toggle was already off. Gamecube controller is emulated and mapped to my Xbox One controller.

Seems like all the search results that come up regarding this error have 'solutions' which have done nothing for me. Already running a clean install and config, on the latest dev version of Dolphin which supposedly had a fix implemented for this? I can't disable the Wii Remote. I can potentially grab an old physical Wii Remote and pair it up but not sure if that'd even help or if it'd simply be a bandaid.

I'm willing to try any suggestions here and can provide as much info about my current setup as you'd like. I'd just like to get this issue finally tackled after running into it with no solid solutions for years.

Are you using a GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U?

Does the controller work normally with GameCube games on Dolphin?

No Gamecube adapter. Emulated Gamecube controller with a USB attached Xbox One controller.

Have not tried any Gamecube games recently but I imagine it'll work fine and I'll test to be sure. The input from the emulated Gamecube controllers is fine on the Wii side.

Have you tried to map wiimote buttons to your gamecube controller? Setting the wii remote to emulated wiimote could be an alternative.

Sorry, but I don't see how those suggestions make any sense... The original post says Emulated Wii Remote is already in use, and the GameCube controller is irrelevant for this problem.

I get your point, but the original post also says that the emulated wii is on stock mapping.

I used to have this issue and I only solve it when I bought a GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U (a 4-port Generic Mayflash-clone adapter). Today I can play Wii games with a GameCube controller natively, when available.

Oh, the stock profile intended for use with an actual Wii Remote? Yeah, I see what you're getting at then. Not sure if the original poster meant the stock profile or the default mapping.

You're right. It would be great if the original poster could clarify this for us. Smile

Basically, everything is stock/default all around aside from a very small handful of changes. I can literally post what few changes I have made from the stock config:

Main Config > Enable Dual Core UNCHECKED
Graphics > Enhancements > 3x Native, 2x MSAA, 1x Anistropic Filtering
Controllers > Gameube Port 1 > Standard Controller > Pointed to Xinput 0, buttons remapped accordingly
Controllers > Wii Remote 1 > Emulated Wii Remote > 'Sideways Wii Remote' checked (I have also left it unchecked, seems to make no difference either way)

Also I realized the Dolphin version I posted was the latest beta. I did update to the latest dev build, 5.0-15467. No difference made.

Ultimately I don't want to have to make use of any Wii Remote functionality, but since the game is a Wii game, it requires one to be connected and active just to continue through the game even if a Gamecube controller (emulated or otherwise) is currently in use and able to control the game 100%. And even when I do have the emulated Wii Remote active, it throws the message "Wii Remote disconnected by emulated software'' after about 5 minutes or so just out of nowhere in random parts of the game. What makes it worse is I'm also trying to make an attempt to get this working via Netplay which so far has been great, but when this error comes up it will actually cause the 'client' instance of Dolphin to outright crash.

Thank you for providing additional information. Unfortunately, I have no ideas/clues.
As I mentioned, my GameCube controller is fully working using a 4-port Generic Mayflash-clone adapter. I tested it with Dokapon Kingdom, and it worked flawlessly. I would recommend you to buy one if possible.
