Just want to say I'm glad you work with PNG and then convert to DDS after--although I may be in the minority, I still use PNG texture packs over DDS ones.

Just look how long it's taken FLAC or PNGs to reach their current popularity, relative to MP3/JPGs (it's not close to lossy formats in widespread usage, but the lossless formats are way better off today than 5 years ago and growing). And thanks for the info. I knew your script required ImageMagick so I just assumed you were using it for more than batch conversions. I expected Compressonator to have some issues in general, it's been discontinued for a few years now. I would assume AMD Compress (the replacement for Compressonator) wouldn't have issues with gigantic pixel counts (I have more faith in AMD software than Nvidia, 'cause GameWorks). It should be noted that AMD Compress is not a command-line based version of the Compressonator. Or atleast I didn't get that impression, although it can do the same stuff. It's more of a library so it's not limited to DDS files. 02-20-2016, 12:43 PM
I was just playing around with various settings and figured out how to make dolphin's logging feature to actually work (checked all the boxes!).
Now I'm seeing tons of stuff like this: Code: 40:45:562 HiresTextures.cpp:415 E[Video]: Invalid custom texture size 1x1 for texture tex1_256x512_m_5aa4d631690888bc_5_mip10. This mipmap layer _must_ be 0x1.
Maybe a bug in Dolphin's texture validation? Only a dev would know for sure. Most of those look like false alarms, considering a dimension of 0 isn't even possible, and 22x22 would not be a correct mipmap for a texture of 64x64 no matter what integer it was scaled at (unless it was scaled at 22x, which no mipmap texture is scaled that large in this pack I think?). The only error in there that is correct is the one that mentions the aspect is off (11.45 vs 12).
Edit: With proper math, "unless it was scaled at 11x", not 22x. And it just so happens that texture is scaled at 11x. It's correct in the PNG pack, but it can't be correct in the DDS pack because 22 is not a multiple of 4. That's just one of the oddities of using DDS, there are times a texture cannot have the proper aspect/dimensions. The texture itself could probably just be rescaled with an even number instead (like 8x) and the mipmap levels would be correct for both formats. 02-21-2016, 11:33 AM
I created a new thread in the support section on this so we can hopefully get confirmation that this is indeed a false positive.
And as I mentioned in that thread, the PNG pack was still downloading when I made my last post, so here is what my log shows when using the PNG pack (core+mini update+SuperHD files) I forgot to mention this but the log in the previous post was taken from Build 4.0-8965, and I was using the DDS pack. Both that one and this were taken from Build 4.0-8965 Code: 09:13:679 HiresTextures.cpp:397 E[Video]: Custom texture tex1_256x512_m_27da342a8e741dd9_14_mip8 failed to load 02-21-2016, 03:13 PM

I've attached the file I managed to dump, but I don't know if it's the correct one. I couldn't dump the textures on this screen, it would only dump when I went back to the game (read: not in a menu without 3D elements to be drawn). *makes note to get Paper Mario back from parents so Kami can finish his game* 02-22-2016, 12:39 AM
Awesome, thanks for the save file and the texture. Here's the fixed version:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/ava6r2...7cb5_2.zip Hmm that's enough errors to be somewhat concerning. There's a lot of textures in there that aren't mipmap levels that are saying they failed to load. I'll have to figure out if these textures really aren't loading, and if they are not loading, then why. 02-22-2016, 12:54 PM

Cheers for that minor fix, Bighead. Fixed the text in my screenshot (can't confirm at the other known location yet).
Ishiiruka 560 (df72df0) & 565 (fe45a5a) has different comments in the log about the texture files. I don't know if it's more or less helpful than the previous comments. I'll post this in the Ishiiruka thread as well to see what Tino has to say, but here is what 565 shows... *EDIT* Ishiiruka 524 (e30a7a8) also has the same comments, so I'm now assuming all Ishiiruka builds have this "style" of comments (which is different from dev builds. Errors might be the same but verbage is different.) Does anyone have Ocarina Codes for Half EXP? PAL or US is fine, the ones on the front don't seem to work.

You have to enable them in game properties AND enable cheats under Config. It's dumb. In case you don't have the code right, use this: Code: $Reduce EXP Gain to 50% |
