It looks like they are doing a lot of visual work, more than just a simple texture upgrade. I'm sure there will be some certain things that will look better in our texture pack, but all around the Definitive Edition will probably be a more complete package depending on how they do it. There are still many missing faces, environments, armors, and weapons in the texture pack. I will say the new UI will take some getting used to; it looks nice but its very different from the original game. It's almost too clean. Minor nitpicking really, because it still looks really nice. Also they heavily "stylized" character faces, giving them more of an "anime" feel than the original. It does lose a bit of the "western" look of the original game. Perhaps it was the original Wii's limitations that gave it that look to begin with, so who am I to say? I'm also a big fan of anime in general, so it doesn't bother me at all, just noting the differences I've seen so far. I also doubt it will run at 60fps, and might lack the upscaling features Dolphin has.
All around, however, I personally think the Definitive Edition looks amazing from the trailers and screenshots we've seen so far, and as a switch owner, I'll probably be picking this up just to see the differences between the original, the retexture pack, and the remaster/remake. Xenoblade is one of my favorite games of all time, so I don't mind spending a little more money on it.
